I would like to make a SAT, but I have no real reference to work from, it would be very very difficult to make a true copy without an original sitting right there in front of me. Not to mention getting the correct materials, etc. Fortunately John is around, if anyone can possibly do it he can...
Kind of funny, but after a couple years of jacket making, this is the first full-fledged A-2 I have made. It's a customer jacket, essentially a 48 short. Dark brown goat, Conmar zipper, cotton lining, etc. It's based mainly on the Doniger pattern (sewn-in and rotated sleeves, shoulder seam under...
Interesting John- I had the same reaction to the Eastman: Wow! It really stands out from the other jackets in fit and materials, but maybe that's just the lighting...

interesting how the looks seem to have softened and "relaxed" a bit by '43- not as severe in the tailoring and that vertical stabilizer on the shoulder seam in '36 is gone.
REALLY like the sportswear from the '40's- great stuff, thanks for posting!

Thanks all- the front is measured from the top of the body to the bottom of the waistknit, basically just the zipper length, if it had one. The collar height is not included in the measurement. I'm 6' and wear a 16.5 x 35 shirt and it fits me very well with a flannel shirt on underneath- been...
Civilian B-9 style parka in very good to excellent condition. Conmar zippers, mouton hood lining with one wear spot on the corner of the collar (see pic). Labeled size 40
$50 plus shipping

I think if you search the list you will find it- there is a big thread about B-3's somewhere. The WPG one has thinner fleece than a true B-3, it's a good "looks right from 10 feet" jacket. He also makes an Irvin you might want to look at.

This is a better deal for a reasonable B-3 replica:

The jackets in your pics are just modern versions of the originals, not exact replicas. You can find something very close to that for cheap on e-bay or similar.

New Doniger style A-1. Lambskin with wool knits. Cotton liner, lined pockets. Size 44-46 see measurements below. This is based on a Doniger pattern and has sewn-in sleeves with slightly rotated arms, giving a more comfortable fit. $325 plus $20 insured shipping to the US, $50 to Europe. Fits...
Had this for a while, and held on to it. It's rare that I find vintage in my size (46), particualrily something like this. I'm thinking late '30's to late 40's? It's one of those things that realistically I probably will never wear, but Damn it's cool...:)
Would this be something that was...
A-1 with USN style pockets
I'm going to stop making individual posts for my stuff, this thread needs new life anyway. This is a 46 A-1 (style) based on the Doniger pattern that I made for a customer. He wants the higher USN style pockets and 25" sleeves, first time I have done that. I think it...
