I didn't have any interest in my Lancaster officer's hat repop so I decided to make it into a "crush cap" along the lines of a Flighter a Dobbs. The hat is made well and uses good materials, but it is essentially a standard size regulation cap- about 11 1/4" diameter across the top and stiff...
Very nice Lancaster AAF or Army Officer's cap size 7 1/2. New condition. This has a backstrap, wool elastique cover, leather sweat band, etc. Standard size officers cap, not the smaller Flighter size. One of the best constructed repops I've seen, and not made anymore. $150 plus shipping.
Thanks for the compliments- I'm in a similar boat size-wise. I keep thinking I'm a 44 even though I'm a 46. Someday I will make a jacket to fit my actual, not imagined, size...

Thanks guys- no it's cowhide, but I realy liked the color and texture and think it suits the style. I'm particularily happy with the way the top of the zipper worked out, hopefully I can remember just exactly what I did next time.
Charlie, how is your LB jacket holding up? have you worn it...
This is a vintage 44, modern 42. Grainy red-brown Cowhide that will wear and crease up like horsehide, vintage Talon zipper, 100% cotton liner, 100% wool knits, collar, and cuffs. The cut is trim with high armholes and square shoulders. This is a test jacket, with some flaws in the parallel...
I finally finished setting up after our move and finished my first jacket in 2 months- It took a while to get back into practice and get my machine set up properly. Amazing how much I forgot, even after such a short time away from jacket making. I'm pretty happy with the new house, and my...
Are you making one to fit you or do you have different sizes worked out? I'm just getting the size proportions figured for the A-2 styles and will have to go through it again for the half belts- though I think the actual shoulder and armhole proportions will be very similar. It looks like the...
It's a basic jacket style, in my opinion you can call an Aero an Aero and have whatever you want done to it. Same as an A-2/A-1. We have a particular esthetic, defined by certain styles and periods and only differentiated by the small, subtle details most people would not notice. When I make a...
There is a lot of work required to make something like that, but if you can make an M-422A or a G-1 you can make any half belt. The hardest part as always is getting the pattern correct- the only way to really get it right is to study period jackets and patterns. It's a time consuming and money...
Charlie- I'm very happy you like it- it looks great!!
Sucessfully re-sizing the pattern to a 42 was a huge step for me, took a lot of work to get the proportions right. I probably have 20-25 hours into this jacket alone, including making the pattern. My sidecar rig is still in pieces in the...
Not necessarily- The Pike jacket is a decent repop with a good shell and liner. Biggest problem is the oversize arms and knits. Nothing that can't be fixed.

And, as my wife just helpfully pointed out, she doesn't talk! Plus she can be easily disassembled for transport. No more riding around on a motorcycle with a fully assembled dummy strapped to the back like Andrew McCarthy and Kim Cattrail in "Mannequin"...
I don't see anything wrong with this...
Wow! That is mighty cool....
and yes, very creepy. But I read a news wire about a woman who has romantic feelings for the Eiffel tower, so at least the mannequin is representative of the right species...

I found this on craigslist when I was looking for a male bust form to hang my jackets on and take pictures.

What era do you think? 50's?
Just had to share...

Thanks- this came up in the classifieds, thought I would post it here too:
It's based on this jacket taken from the Spanish Civil War thread over on the VLJ. I modified it a bit with scalloped pockets. The multi-piece back and arms are conjecture, but I tried to stay true to the basic design...
