I have a cordovan Stockman which is coming up for a year and I think it's ageing very nicely indeed. It's still very dark, but has some lighter areas due to scratching, rubbing or flexing. The lighter highlights make it look even nicer IMHO.
The winter would be half gone by then and I'm not convinced I'd get that much use out of it anyway. At least your job gets you standing in the freezing countryside for hours on end, so your Irvin is worth it for you.
I'm eyeing up the wool/FQHH genuine hybrid (woorse???) for my next one...
I tried on the same one, Sloan. I agree with what you said and felt it was a true size 38. I liked it a lot and would probably have bought one by now if there was no waiting list, giving me time to think rationally.
Actually, I think it was a 40, but the sheepskin made it feel smaller as it...
Thanks guys. Strangely, the sample they sent seemed browner, but these look better than I expected. What's not coming across in the pics is the graininess of the hide. It's very noticeable close up and completely different to my normal smooth grain shoes and boots.
I'll probably post better...
Thought I'd share my new Burgundy (full grain) Derbys. I haven't actually seen them yet as I'm working away, but my wife sent these pics and says they're a great match for my cordovan jacket, better than the pics show.
Sounds like a result and I look forward to breaking them in. My black ones...
That's a fine looking jacket, but I don't think the Dustbowl's meant to be much if any roomier. Isn't it based on the slim-fitting 30s HB? Probably not as narrow at the waist as your D-Pocket though.
Nice to see a second one in the flesh after Sloan's. I have one on order and decided that tighter is righter after trying on a 38 and 40.
I think your lengths are fine, but would probably go down a size.
Very nice indeed and I think your best yet, although the Teamster isn't far behind at all.
Going down a size for this and the Teamster, like I think you've done from your earliest jackets, has paid off in terms of fit, especially when you get the arm length right.
We all know it won't end...
I'm taller and heavier too and went 38 on a similar style, as there seemed to be too much under the shoulders at the back on the 40 for my weedy frame.
Who knows? I'd have thought that there could still be plenty of dodgy ones out there as probably not every buyer reads the Aero front or news pages, much less this forum. It only really matters if the buyer particularly wants pure horse, though.
Did Aero ever say how many they had returned...
Monitor, I wouldn't have a clue about your pics. You could maybe forward them to Aero to see if they think it's genuine.
Also, if you could get a copy of the seller's purchase receipt that might narrow it down.
I'd imagine eBay could be awash with dodgy Aero hides, so unless it was...
Monitor, you also need to be aware that just because it's labeled FQHH, it doesn't mean it is.
It could easily be steer or a mixture if it was made in 2012 or before. I'd be very wary of buying Aero on eBay now.
Building on that, with HWT, it's only the outer layer which will get wet and possibly shrink, not the inner pocket patch. That would possibly explain some of the more obvious ones.
