All matters aside, thank you, Brad. Nice piece of scholarship, and great reference material. It's men like you that make the whole engine run smoothly, and make it a delight to go cruising with more information
at our side.
Thanks again.
Paddy: the first photo is the example for me why Whippets are so prized.
simple, elegant, dashing, confident; both the hat and you, in that photo.
If anyone has any more questions about how & why-a picture's worth...
thanks. my daily ration of "somebody got it RIGHT!!"
That's one of my favorite photos- the suit, the hat, the attitude-great!
good luck- and bet on the horse with the best name-my other half does it,
and she wins way too much money...
Mr. Lucky....watta name for a score like that. Looks like it'll clean up well
and be one killer hat. Didn't see it. Glad of that, happy to see you hit the
bell after too many misses... Would you take some before & after photos?
It'd be great to see just what can be done to a good Panama...
Alan-sorry about the non-response; must have gotten lost in my ridiculous pile of emails to respond to . My fault, please accept apologies, and please-write me back as soon as you can, will answer ASAP!
Thank you for understanding, if you can.:eusa_doh:
ouch. snakeskin doesn't like getting wet. neither do snakes, for that matter.
but to the subject-with pedestrian exotics like lizard and ostrich, a good polish
like Meltonian should suffice-it feeds the skin, helps keep it elastic, which is probably the most important thing, and will help...
Looking for a Borsalino in our size, you say? What color did you have in mind?
Not kidding. Have a few in 7 3/8; have a Black Allesandria that's stunning- blue oval in liner, 10 of 10 condition; give me a holler at adhoc.idea @comcast.net
purging the collection; many photos available, rather...
Great line-up! I like the Trackside, too; if we all hurry, we might have a bulk order in time for the Derby...
And Laurence: with those glasses, the beat goatee, and topped with a fine lid-
you one cool lookin' cat, man!
Another vote for the older guy club...:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
After spending over 16 yrs in the antiques business, dealing with a lot of
"primitives" and odd/obscure tools, simply as a sideline to mainstream early
furniture, etc., seeing these wonderful tools was a real delight!! Thanks, all,
for sharing your knowledge, photos, links, and most of all...
different companies used leather preservatives on the sweatbands-had a sheet processed with the chemicals, then the cutting, embossing, sewing took place; so the problem is in the leather itself (most of the time), and it's hard to tell which reaction you're going to get. The best quality hats...
"Liner's in very good shape, no discoloration; there is a slight problem with the
brim, but nothing that can't be fixed..." ( for 2-3 hundred bucks...)lol
Good looking Vintage Fedora, generous 7 3/8, Chocolate Brown felt in fine condition with a great sewn in grosgrain edge 11/16 UNDER the brim; very sharp treatment, allows the steeply raked back edge to show the edging quite well, and accentuates the snap brim; 1 7/16 grosgrain ribbon is a russet...
Congratulations! two outstanding hats sold for what we are now knowing to be
fair prices. Thank you, Art, for your perfect timing and knowledge, and your attitude of sharing information because you like to...And thanks, all- seems like we just saw something rare happen, and we're able to put...
