I would like a versatile summer shoe, but my head is spinning with options: white bucs, dirty bucs, saddle shoes, and spectators. I’d love to know what others are wearing, the historical connotations of each shoe, and why.
I had a pair of Nunn Bush brown/brown saddle shoes that I loved...
In April of 1945, my grandfather was in the hospital in Germany. A USO artist, apparently named Mimi Forach, came by and sketched him. This was the result:
The original is on heavy, yellowish cardstock and the 9th Air Force patch is in color. I haven’t got a proper scanner at the...
I can’t wait! I have a reprint of the 1920s Tower Treasure, and it whetted my appetite for the early books years ago.
I hate to say it, but those haven’t been the “modern” Hardy Boys books since the 1980s. The franchise has been updated at least twice since then. I tend to think of the...
A bump in case the board has picked up any collectors of vintage youth fiction.
And I’m thinking seriously about writing a short story involving rockets in the ‘20s now.

Edit: Nevermind, I got it to work. Second time's the charm, I guess. Thanks!

I wish I knew more about this car:
It looks like a stock, lowered '37 Ford ragtop, but it's a Roy Brizio build, so I'm sure there's more to it. I know from other pictures on his website that it packs a supercharged flathead with twin carburetors, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if...
Taken in the spirit it was offered, I assure you. :)
Besides, I was more concerned about the dark smudge that showed up on my lapel sometime during the day. On a freshly cleaned suit! Argh.

I'm a man of means by no means. I do have a non-frayed blue shirt, but I was channeling preppy with the seersucker tie and the frayed collar, but perhaps I fell short.

Rivets, maybe, but I steer clear of farm work if I can avoid it. I don't even garden.
My only point was that it's easier to dress to fit your surroundings. So if, like me, you live in a farming community, you might be interested in overalls and work boots. Or if, like me, you work in a...
