    Post New Hats Here!

Yes, Cavanagh did not put their felted edge on all their hats. I have a couple with bound edge and even one with a over-welt. As for people cutting brims down (or having them cut down), happened a LOT in the late 50's and into the 60's (and even earlier, they were cutting down brims in the...

    Pilgrim's Pride

As a bump to this thread......I was out and about and found this 50's beauty Wednesday!!!! Looks to have been little worn, NO mothing but needed brushing and was rather crushed when found. Resulted in an unfortunate crease in the tip under the plastic protector. Hard to correct and I really...

    The Open Road Guild

AGREED!!!! BUT, there are several here (not me obviously) that want to believe that they have found a Unicorn from Stetson.....they all need to give it more thought about what has happened (or could have) to the hat since it left the factory and or store, some 70 odd years ago.......

    The Open Road Guild

THAT is good advice......and leads to a point I was making earlier on altered hats. Someone found a cut brim wide ribbon OR from the 50-60's with very obviously the original sweat and thought: "no way a men's shop originally selling that hat would have changed the ribbon or cut the brim". When...

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

Ok, here is a DIFFERENT kind of reaction story...My wife was looking at my photo album on my tablet (had some pictures of chairs and paintings she may want from an antique store) WHEN she see this picture: and says: "That is a really nice looking Hat, you need one like that!!". When I...

    Western, anyone?

I call it: "what I like to do to my rancher/cattleman crease hats to soften THAT crease when I do not have enough crown to do much else" crease....;) I do that "reverse center thumb dent" on those......which is what I call it anyway.....I have three or four like that...
