Thanks, Bob. I hear you; I find these light hats have limited wearability in our climate, but they just look so damn good!

Dalton in white-ish colour, let's say chalk, with a cream/ivory brim binding and ribbon. Size 55 (close enough to my 56 to give it a nudge) with the bound brim at 7cm and crown 11cm at the center dent. Final shape is yet to be determined.
The pictures show it sagging through the shape I gave it just by its weight (and it weighs only 100 grams).
This is very much a white knight kind of hat. There's lots of attention to detail in the finishing (like the way the back-seam of the sweatband has been done). The felt is very soft, especially on the crown, and seems a bit more loosely felted than for instance the similar looking Knox twentyfive. But a nice hand to it and quite thin and light.

Could be an new and so far unseen colour (I'm thinking visone -mink -, which would fit). Anyone care to hazard a guess?

Knox Superfine in dark blue. Size 7 with the brim at 6cm and the crown 11,5cm at the center dent. Very sleek looking hat even if it's proportions are impressive. Fits me like a dream. I have Brent to thank for this one; seems like he has found a Knox mine somewhere. No label under the sweat. Early fifties maybe?

Cavanagh in brown. Size 60 with the raw edge brim at 5,2cm and the crown 11cm at the center dent. At first I thought this hat may have had its brim cut (who would do such a thing?), but I doubt this hat ever had a Cavanagh edge in the first place. It's one of their later hats and the "cavanagh edge" feature would have been printed on the sweatband. Either way the overall quality is all there.

Knox Twentyfive in a cream/ivory colour. Bound brim at 7,5cm and crown 11cm at the center dent. Some small moth nips here and there, but other than that in great shape. Brim is quite wide for my tastes, but I suspect it can count on the approval of several fellow members here. I can honestly say I'm very pleased with it: Knox was one of the best American manufacturers in my view.

Love the colors.

Yes, Cavanagh did not put their felted edge on all their hats. I have a couple with bound edge and even one with a over-welt. As for people cutting brims down (or having them cut down), happened a LOT in the late 50's and into the 60's (and even earlier, they were cutting down brims in the 20's from the earlier wider brim fedoras) when people wanted to "update" their hats into the "latest Styles" as the hat shops and cleaners would say.......THIS hat does not look at all like one of those as you say.......

YES, the ORIGINAL "I" pad. All you could see in it was, "Me, Myself and I"...... And to go along with the hat theme it was made with mercury and silver............(and glass and wood).
