PLEASE read my posts carefully!!!! I AM NOT saying your hat is not a OR. It just is NOT A UNICORN!!!!!!! or in other words an OR variant right from the stetson factory!!!!! I am ONLY REFERRING to these altered hats, flange changed, wide ribbon, brim cut......completely re-blocked.......when we...
Not at all.....it is just not a factory varient from Stetson. And really, It would no longer be an OR as it origionaly was sold, as it WOULD be an altered hat, abeit, minimally altered (well, depending on the severity of the new flange). And lets face it.....it will no longer have the classic...
I said I "think I have a catalog listing (for the Open Trail)......I have a LOT of catalogs, so takes time to go through...........and why ask for ads?......further validation that may offer more insight...
As a curator you do not go with the verdict at all unless it is PROVEN!! Speculation that...
Well.....YES......with due respect.....
No. 1 It is not even labeled as an OR, so why you would even call it an OR I do not know. I even doubt it came in that configuration.....any ads for one? I think i do have a catalog listing or two and it does NOT look like that.
No. 2 it is no more a...
OMG I soooooooo wish I was a size 7......your hat offerings are soooooooo nice! And reasonably priced......I have to pay at least twice as much for moth nibbled examples........often driven over by trucks:eek:, but at least they're my size!;)
You have so awsome hats sir!

One last comment for thoughtful reflection from a person who has worked with countless museums in the collection and curating of artifacts: Just because Uncle Joe thoughtfully donated that 1880's Officers undress cap to the museum in the 1940's saying it was grandfathers "Civil War hat"...
The OR in the ad does not have a 3 cord. While I have seen pencil curl and homburg 'OR's there is absolutly NO evidence they left the factory that way. And I do not have nor have seen ANY ads or paperwork for such hats from Stetson. People forget that once a hat leaves the factory the...
That would have been a miss print of the catalog, several on the page are listed as having three cords, undoubtedly a copy error.. The hat they picture is indeed a "usual" Open Road. No 3 cord on that one.........remember the listing was not printed by Stetson....
Errors like that are often in...
Here I have a 70's Black Stetson 3X (Midnight Cowboy:eek:) I picked up yesterday. In it's original:eek: form......Cannot say I EVER cared for the shape much. DO like the ribbon. It is a generous 7 1/2. Brim is 3 3/8 inches with a full 5 3/8 crown in front 5 1/2 on the sides, as creased...
I am constantly having comments about my hats (and my dress in general) from teen girls to mature women. Guys will often have "that Look" but you can tell feel it is not cool to ask or say anything. Black women will ALWAYS comment on my hats and dress, with Black men often saying something 50%...
Any info on when these Canadian tags date from? Looks very Biltmore (or Akubra even) but from a Stetson....70's (though it does have the nicer earlier liner)???

Here is an extremely light weight THIN Mallory felt....made for warmer temps....check out the perforated sweat with the generous sweat guard behind it and the mesh liner.....thought it good to display in this interesting thread....
More in the Mallory Mile...
M;)
At least for now...........

PS And it DOES mean NO MORE LUCKY RABBITS FEET! Of course the rabbit was NEVER lucky in this situation.........
