You will find in Europe that Derby's and many more hats in general were made with wool felt and wool felt blends historically......
NOW, we have made a good many more fur felt hats here than in Europe (especially over the last 150 years) and currently even.

YOU are right, That hat is definitively from the 40's through the 50's.....a little research right HERE on the Lounge under size tags and liners will reveal this fact.....

Here is a early 60's Royal Deluxe Stetson OR clone (of what ever model they called it at the time, they made a LOT of "models" almost identical to the OR) I got this from a fellow lounger...
And then I picked up a couple of MORE green hats!! I KNOW steur will just love all these (the french one I got from him!!) There is here: Stratton, Stetson (three), Churchill, Cavanaugh, Tomilson, Huckle, Lembert, Bayerland, Fletchet, Borsalino, Resistol, Purto Fino, Peters, Malory and a couple...
