jacked rabbit
Unbelievable to see that they have to import rabbit skins now, it means that the virus they released some years back must really be working. the rabbit was our biggest agricultural pest and billions of them devastated large tracts of the country and turned it into near-desert.Good...
sized up
Whether or not the sizes were cut the same, one thing is without doubt: people were generally smaller. As a dedicated vintage shirt hunter I find it very difficult to get stuff to fit me, and I'm only the old OS size which translates to about a 46" chest. It kills me to keep finding...
the good oil
I find you can't go past neatsfoot oil for any leather application, but make sure you get a good brand, such as Joseph Lyddy round these parts.
Dubbin is of course the old standard.
Having just acquired a fabulous as-new pair of Police and Fireman B&D braces in an op-shop for 2 bucks, I wonder if they will really fit comfortably with a pair of modern trousers designed to take a belt, admittedly I could sew buttons on all my daks, but it would be a lot easier to stick with...
avatar protocols
As a newcomer to this group, I still haven't figured out why some of us use actual personal images, and some have period or film shots. What's the deep and meaningful reason for this dichotomy...

Hounds tooth!
This Stafford and Ellison overcoat has been on my stall for about 6 months, but now I decided I can't bear to part with it, we could form a gang here.
Anybody know when the overlocker was invented? Double seams are a big point with vintage shirt hunters as supposedly a guide to pre-60's items, but the legendary Alfred Shaheen shirts from the 50's didn't have them...even his daughter couldn't give me any hard info. And while we're on island...
I found a DVD for 5 bux of DOA the 1950 classic recently, the clothes, the style, and the incredible nightclub scene make this a real experience. Great plot too, the guy who's 'just been murdered', and has 24 hours to find out why.
what movie?
In my younger days, you couldn't hold your head up unless you'd done it at the drive in, staion wagons being our favoured mode of transport.
one missing
guys I hate to be parochial, but you left out the acknowledged top gun in its class of WW2, the aussie Owen Gun.
