Need your help!!! WWII Patch Placement

Yes, we feel that my Dad will appreciate this very much. He is still very active, golfing 2 times each week, plus other activities. He is privately reminiscent on his time spent in the Pacific. However, he very rarely talks about it. In his mind, the only genuine heroes of WWII are the ones...

Need your help!!! WWII Patch Placement

Thanks! He was in the 24th Infantry, and was a Tech. Cpl., machine gunner in the Philippines (1944-1945). He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal & Bronze Star Attachment-Single, WWII Victory Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, Philippine...

Need your help!!! WWII Patch Placement

As we are planning to have a custom made jacket for my Father's 90th birthday, can anyone advise as to the proper location for the various patches that we will have sewn on? The ones I am wondering about are the: WWII US Army Western Pacific patch WWII Bronze Star Patch WWII Purple Heart...

To bi-swing back or not to bi-swing back?

My G&B A-2 "feels" just right when I put it on. My Schott (USW) G-1, with the bi-swing back, gives freedom of movement, but has a strange "feel" to it, in the shoulder/back area. I just looked in the rear view mirror, and it does not suffer from the Bat-Man virus! Several other jackets in my...

    Sewing WWII patches on jackets

Since my newly arrived B-15 is satin with a silk-screened USAF patch, I am considering sewing on a real (repro) cloth patch. Can this be easily done by a talented seamstress?

    Famous People in Flight Jackets

Wow...the great R.A. (Bob) Hoover! Had the pleasure of seeing him perform a number of times, both in the P-51 and the Shrike Commander. For those of you who appreciate the fine art of controlling an aircraft, go to YouTube and watch Hoover do some things with both engines shut down that many...

Alpha MA-1, made in Knoxville, arrived today...are you ready for this?

Just bought a Rowenta hand held steamer. With the help of my wife, we managed to soften up the wrinkles quite a bit. In a month or two of hanging, the rest of the wrinkles should gradually fade away. The jacket really is nice, and in the photos, looks almost as nice as a Buzz. I am honestly...

Alpha MA-1, made in Knoxville, arrived today...are you ready for this?

Yup, 5' 11", 175lbs. A pretty regular 42...a 40 sometimes will fit. This jacket has a "fitted" look, but is not too small or uncomfortable. I think it will become my "go to" jacket, even taking priority over my much more expensive (7X) A-2 and G-1. Yes, sleeve length is to the end of the cuff...

Alpha MA-1, made in Knoxville, arrived today...are you ready for this?

All measurements taken with jacket face down (backside), flat on a table. Across top of shoulder - seam to seam: 19 1/2" Top of shoulder to end of sleeve: 24" Pit to pit - across back: 25" Top of collar to bottom of waistband: 25 1/2" After the wrinkles iron out, I suspect these measurements...

Alpha MA-1, made in Knoxville, arrived today...are you ready for this?

Allen...good for you! I know you will like this jacket. It is actually of a better quality than I had hoped for. I think you can get the zipper fixed / replaced on your MA-1. My great-grandparents are from Denmark, on my Dad's side of the family.

A photo...the wrinkles are not as bad as they look here.

Alpha MA-1, made in Knoxville, arrived today...are you ready for this?

ITS HERE! And I could NOT be more pleased!!! At $65, this is a steal. The jacket is a large size, but is a very close fit, not long in length, but looks good in the mirror. It actually fits through the shoulder like my size 44R US Wings (Schott) G-1. It is a deeeeeep black, much darker than the...

    Black G-1

Just spoke with Jessica at G&B. Turns out the Black G-1 jacket is very popular with the law enforcement types. G&B supplies police officers with the black G-1.
