What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Waiting for the rain that's supposed to hit us with my Resistol Cogburn. Although with my glasses on, I've got kind of the reverse of the "one eyed fat man" thing going on...

    Adios Stetsonian

By the by, I like the "West Bound B" from the Fall 17 line. 3 3/4 bound brim....like an old west hat almost. Reminds me a little of Bullock's hat from Deadwood. There's a wool pork pie called the "Cranston," which seems a little on the nose. I guess I'm not surprised a more vintage focus...

Oh, I've got an order, theoretically. Haven't heard from Steve in a while. I've basically written off, but every once in a while I'll shoot him an email.

    First Stetson

I'll make it simple: you want a vintage open road. Silverbelly is probably the most all around versatile color. ORs are relatively easy to find because there's a lot of them out there (as well as clones), and they're not as coveted as other vintage models like the whippet or stratoliner. They...

Ask a question, get an answer

You know, my Resistol beater does the same thing. I eventually just gave up trying to brush it (until that one time I forgot why I stopped brushing that one hat). I didn't think powder dye was a thing in the 60s?

    My Blue Heaven

I think we get the gist of what you're trying to say. But what, specifically, leads you to this conclusion? There is often a misconception that stiffer felt is of higher quality. Likewise, there's often a misconception that a thin felt is inherently bad. In both cases, density has a far...

In search of smaller brimmed silverbelly fedora/trilby

If you have an extra 1k laying around, Optimo will make you the nicest silverbelly stingy you'll ever find. I think it's a fairly uncommon color for shorter brimmed hats. In all my hours of ebaying, I don't know that I've seen one.

    Optimo south side mobsters

Lovely! The Manhattan is perhaps my favorite Optimo model. The ribbon and binding is a great accent to the green felt. They really do a great job and you wear it well.

Show us your chocolate, your camel, your browns

I remember once saying something to the effect of me having no use for brown hats. Then I got three more brown hats. The most recent is the excellent quality Fortune and Glory, in tobacco brown (full afternoon sun) Here's the bigger version of my avatar picture, with the Boss Raw Edge...

Heathered felt. Borsalino also referred to it as a "misto" finish.
