Thanks, everyone!
The felt on this one is really nice! Easily the best I've seen from Hat co. There's maybe one imperfection on the underside of the brim which might have made this one a second, but I'm a sucker for a deal, and not at all unhappy with this purchase. A much nicer Indy hat...
Yup, open crown.
Haven't seen them out in the wild yet, I took @Rick Blaine 's cue and BIN'd it from eBay from "Sewmaster53," who seems to find every thing that falls off the Hatco truck.
The funny thing is, I don't recall seeing any holes in sweats at the Hatco outlet. There's a strong possibility this guy is selling seconds, but I'm alright with it
Well sure, but Delmonico also doesn't have it on their site.
Also, I ain't no big city mathematician, but Delmonico is currently listing the New York at $325, and the excellent Temple at $315. At 15% off I'm getting $276 and $267 respectively.
Mostly I'm impatient and impulsive ;)
I just had to search ebay tonight....

BIN'ed this Stetson Fortune and Glory Indy lid.
Rick, I'm really mad at you for tipping me off to that seller! ;)
They had another one listed, in my size. Still a decent deal considering the excellent quality felts retail above $300, but not nearly a good a deal as yours.
What was I going to do, not BIN it?
This is Deckard's last hurrah...
That wool felt hat will not ever look the same to the screen worn hat, especially if you try to shrink it. That hat has a very tapered blockshape already. Adding a pinch is going to exaggerate that taper. Shrinking that hat is going to make it more so on top of that.
The pictured hat has a...
While Optimo's are a significant investment in hats, they are well made, and they don't need to be "babied." It's less comfortable to wear a felt hat in the heat, because, well, it's hot. But it won't harm your hat in any way.
There are a few different variations of hat stretchers or "hat...
Provided you gave correct measurements to Optimo, and they knew you were a long oval, it seems you might just need to get the sweat more conformed to your headshape. Don't bother bringing an Optimo to Goorin. That'd be like taking your Rolls Royce to Maaco.
You really can hit it with some...
I'm a sucker for a JJ Hat Center sale....bought Doria and Stetson summer caps at 50% off. SF didn't get above 70 all this August, so we're all anxiously awaiting our Indian summer, and these will do nicely.
The foam stuff works well, but I've recently become a convert of these: http://jjhatcenter.com/collections/hat-accessories/products/cotton-sizing
JJ sent me some to use with the Boss Raw Edge I'm wearing in my avatar. They're functionally the same, but in my possibly OCD opinion, the cloth...
All things being equal, a straw hat is going to be relatively more comfortable than a felt hat in warmer weather. It'll be lighter on your head and have more breathability.
That having been said, if it's hot, it's hot. I wore a felt hat walking around Antietam in the middle of June. Better...
Litefelt wool hats are crushable, IIRC, but it's generally advisable to not roll or crush your hat for any long term purpose.
There's a strong preference for fur felt hats here over wool. The Stetson Runabout is their travel felt. It's not in their current line up, but a hat shop might have a...
The new Rooster Cogburn/Jeff Bridges hat was done by Baron, so, presumably, Winchester felt. Would not be surprised if it was pounced a lot to remove some of the weight.
