I should have posted the link:
http://www.hat-co.com/perch//resources/fall2017dobbsdigital-1.pdf

I'm not surprised they don't offer open crown. It took a lot of pressure just to get them to offer open-crown Stetsons. Dobbs occupies a different market for them. I've long wanted them to embrace their past, reintroduce classic models and make classically styled Dobbs hats like Matt Deckard had them do with Stetson, but I don't think it will happen. I'm not crazy about the new Cross Country, and I hate their modern Dobbs logo, but at least they brought the Cross Country name back.

I am curious about their Dobbs Derby styles. I don't understand the soft felt, and it would be nice if the crown was taller than a measly 4 inches. I'm tempted to order one out of sheer curiosity.

why even bother bringing the name back ... it puzzles me

I am so confused by so many things concerning modern hat production ... especially pertaining to HatCo.

I think they're still interested in brand history, despite the departure of Deckard. I was contacted by Hatco a few months ago regarding Dobbs history for marketing purposes, and I mentioned it would be nice to see some of the classic models brought back. The Cross Country was one of several I mentioned. I provided some information for them, but that was the extent of my involvement. Maybe they took my suggestion seriously, even if it's not what we would want to see.

that kind of changes my perception of it ... that is actually awesome

just wish they had the desire to actually connect the nostalgia of the name with the hat it so wonderfully represents

While looking to order a Stetsonian in Caribou, I noticed a Grand Central in Silverbelly. What does anyone know about this hat. Looked pretty good. Now I am on the fence.

It is the same felt quality as the Stetsonian with an overall smaller profile....1/2" on the crown, 1/4" on the brim. Looks to be the same bland ribbon treatment as on the Stetsonian. Forgot to check to see if the GCentral has a brim binding the same as the Stetsonian.

The brim treatment is overwelt rather than bound like the Stetsonian. Otherwise, I had noticed the dimension changes. I was somewhat familiar with the specs of this hat, but have not handled one to know if the felt was similar to a Stetsonian.
Thanks,
Fed
