Attorneys and Barristers of the Lounge

Funny how lawyers take things to excess, perhaps more so than any other professional. Food, wine, women, song, hats, pens, old shotguns, cars; whatever. No sense sticking your toe in the water when you can jump in and completely immures oneself, right? One can go completely around the bend...

Ah, this place is starting to feel like being in the company of old friends. I can smell the cigars and hooch. Time to settle in and get comfortable as I am sure one of you has a tale or two that can get the festivities started.

Atticus Finch - undoubtedly one of the greatest and most admired characters in American literature and for all of the right reasons. There have been many times when I have been a little angry with my daughter and I have asked myself how Atticus would handle the situation. I love the book...

Yes. Westlaw is our web-based service and is based on the print titles and system for indexing and organizing topically key areas of law we started back in the 1870's. Actually, one of my mentors ran Thomson in Australia before transferring to the states. Since the aquisition by Thomson we...

I too am a lawyer although I left practice about 12 years ago and have been called a "recovering lawyer." I worked for a large firm then a small firm doing med mal and insurance defense before hanging out my shingle. Being on my own was fun, exciting and got me into some interesting places and...

I would love to have an old radio but where to start?

This is exactly the direction that I was looking for. Thank you all. On a related note, am I to assume that there are sources where old radio programs can de downloaded?

    Briefcases

I have been carrying my Custom Hide 1945 Computer Bag (identical to the one pictured above) for the past few months and I have no complaints. It does attract attention, that's for sure. Plenty of room for my notebook PC, files and a binder or two without weighting me down. I can only imagine...

I would love to have an old radio but where to start?

I still listen to the radio and I would like to have a neat old radio in a wood cabinet but I have no idea where to start and what to look for. Other than garage sales, antique shops and flea markets where should I look and how do I avoid buying one that does not and will not ever work again...

Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid...(Steve Martin Film Noir Spoof)

A bit of about the movie. A couple of years before the movie was made Steve Martin was on the Johnny Carson show. Johnny ask Steve the most no-where place he ever played. Mr. Martin replied Terra Haute, Indiana. That immediataly drew ire of those living in Terra Haute. There were anti-Steve...

    Do-rags underneath fedoras

I think the only guy who could pull that off is Kid Rock (who gets all of his hats from Henry the Hatter in D-troit). Brett Michaels? Anyone relying on him for fashion needs to check into rehab. He may play a Bad-a$$, but Kid Rock IS a Bad-A$$.

    College Football!

I had the pleasure of being at the game (along with over 112,000 college football fans). Weiss coached a pretty good game, but I have no idea why he called the pass plays. But don't take anything away from Rich Rod or the Wolverines: they played a heck of a game on both sides of the ball, In...

Aero's Long Half Belt vs. HB De Luxe

Don't know it I would be overly concerned. They'll make a jacket to what ever length you want. I believe my size 46 LHB is 38" long but they made it at least 1-1/2" longer to fit me.

    I love the Fed IV!!

Just a heads-up: I am going to be listing a brown Fed IV Deluxe (60cm) in the Classifieds tomorrow. I bought the hat early this summer, wore it once or twice, and it just does not work for me. The hat is freshly blocked by Henry the Hatter in Detroit. Doublegun

Vintage vs. Classic - creating a truly a timeless look.

Found this article interesting, however I think "preppie" has been used and abused to the point where it is often a caricature of what is truly traditional/classic. http://www.observer.com/2009/fashion/trad-men

    fountain pen newbie

When I bought my Parker 75 I also bought a Lamy, a $30 cartridge pen that has a universal adaptor. The Lamy is available with different nibs - not a bad intro pen. The only thing I don't like about it is the lack of the ability to rotate the nib to change the grip.

Vintage vs. Classic - creating a truly a timeless look.

Swore off plastic/nylon boots a couple of years ago. My hunting boots are handmade by Russell and my regular boots are a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers that are starting to develop a nice patina.
