Great idea
Lenny, You're idea is one I'd love to see implemented. I hate having to ask repeated questions (some not getting answered) prior to ordering. Give us the detail/alteration prices and we'll stop bugging you with monotonous questions! Sounds like a win-win.
year dating
yes, you can date it exactly. If you find the string of numbers on the tag under that looks something like xxxx-67- xxxx-xxx (sorry I don't have photo on hand), it's the 2 digit number (like the above 67) that's the year of manufacture. Great jackets, BTW! Very comfy and long...
both sides
I can see both sides to this question of giving it back. IF GENUINE, it might just be that this is the first time any opportunity has presented itself for the family of Stalker to recover any tie to him, in which case, flat out refusing to let them acquire it (at fair price) would...
It's a federal thing......... which I am not aware of too many (any actually)states overriding. I teach CCW in MN. It's not hard to get a CCW permit (in almost every state that offers them) as a LEGAL alien with all the correct work papers. Had a buddy who was British and a diamond dealer...
Hello all!
I just wanted to share something that was forwarded to me. This link will take you to a photo album, with a bunch of photos (mostly candid) of a fighter unit (the 78th) based on Iwo Jima. Apart from the obvious importance of the photos in general, there are many neat images of a...
go long...........
Glad you see that no meanness was intented. Text is sometimes brutal because you (we) add the pervceived vocal intonation as you read it. Easy to take offense where none is intended.
Back to the jacket question......... If you are going to have any jacket built, have it...
dames.............
If it wasn't for fashion-wise, compassionate women, many of us (or at least me) would not have been saved from walking out of the house looking like a dork on many occassions. Thank God for "GRR-ANIMALS!" :eusa_clap
I opt for the matching belt and shoes, but I do tend to...
Handmade?
It just dawned on me after reading these great replies........... is there any garment (except socks maybe) that ISN'T "handmade???" Is there some factory somewhere where you shove a cow, or maybe a roll of tanned leather into one end of a huge machine and out pops a finished jacket...
smith 1911..........
I carry mine in an IWB holster (usually cross draw, hammer down) with an A-2...........or most anything else. I can even tuck in my shirt over the gun and still have it easily accessible. Inexpensive, easy to conceal and doesn't feel like a huge goiter under your armpit...
B-3
Welcome to the FL. This is probably best for it's own thread. I'm no expert, nor do i own a B-3, but there are many good reporos out there, but mostly crap. If you want authentic, there should be no side pockets, just a map pocket. Also depends on wartime or pre-war. Aero, Lost Worlds...
Military jacket
There was an exellent one for sale in the FL classifieds recently.

May still be there. Andy Richards had it and could tell you more than I could. I love the look, but only negative I've heard...
input
While I prefer HH for my jackets, due to wear and lasting looks, I must admit that my steerhide police jacket has been taking a DAILY beating, in all sorts of weather and situations, for 10 years, and (apart from being nicely broken in) still looks great. BUT it does require conditioning...
Just my opinion.......
Nice jacket but looks to short, unless you never plan to sit or bend over! I personally think that jackets should, at least, cover the belt while standing, unless you are a matador!:)
All good points...
I guess, at the end of the day, there is only a finite number of originals. Repros can always be made. BUT............ who among us wouldn't jump at the chance to wear/own an actual jacket worn by aviation greats like Douglas Bader, Adolph Galland or Pappy Boyington! If...
"todays puzzler is......."
Great posts and enjoyable reading! OK....... It's safe to say that 90% of us are anal about our repro jackets, to varying degrees. For big bucks we expect near-perfection.
Now, If you had $1000 to spend and your choice was a really high-end, minty new repro...
