REPRO flight jackets a little too good?

Our loss! :( I rented a flat from a WW2 vet (George Roosz) in Columbus, Ohio (back in the 90's and now deceased) and he still maintained a pilots license well into his 80s. Anyway, we often spoke of the war...... he flew P-47s with the 78th.... and had fond memories of his A-2. He shipped it...

REPRO flight jackets a little too good?

profound..... AF............ In very few words you have possibly (and eloquently) summed up much of what I suspect. Thanks!

REPRO flight jackets a little too good?

As the old saying goes, "Hey! I resemble that remark!" Actually, I'm happy as long as I can look down and still see my.......ah.......... belt buckle, without having to bend forward. My A-2 makes me feel so much more burly and flighty and the envy of women everywhere! lol OK.......... well...

REPRO flight jackets a little too good?

I'm A-2 deficient While I do own numerous non-flight jackets, I regret to say that I only own two A-2s. One is a HH in russet from US Authentic (love it, but not dead-nuts authentic) and the second is coming today....... a spectacular custom made "Duboniger" from SUPERIOR FLIGHT APPAREL...

Looking for quality leather field jacket

DeNiro Jacket I have seen that jacket on the Magnoli site, but all the coats of his that I have seen (granted only 3) have been lighter weight leather than what I'm looking for, but the design is the closest I've seen yet, Thanks!

Looking for quality leather field jacket

close......... Thanks for the pics! Would work, BUT I hate flaps with no patch pocket! Yes, I'm a picky sort. I've decide that I'm going to have Fishmeok (Mark) at SUPERIOR FLIGHT APPAREL make me "THE perfect jacket." That way I can get axactly as I like and I'm assured of the quality...

REPRO flight jackets a little too good?

Thanks for weighing in here, Andrew! I have always been amazed at your knowledge and collection, and your willingness to share benefits us all! I guess going on the commonality of original imperfections, it just seems rather anal that we hold one company above another when discussing...

REPRO flight jackets a little too good?

lol........that's a bit extreme! Great story, thanks! How did that slip past the inspectors? But, in any case, that's the point I was trying to make. When I catch myself looking at basically same material jacket, but the sewing wanders a bit, I first tend to think, "What shoddy...

REPRO flight jackets a little too good?

Interesting Thanks for the comment. I have felt that way myself on may occasions while handling militaria. I was essentially making money off of war, capture and hardship. But I also realize that we all indulge our interests in various ways and most benign in nature. I think the degree...

REPRO flight jackets a little too good?

Gents (and Ladies), With all the text flying around on FL and other forums regarding the persistent disection of details on high-end A-2s and G-1s, etc (GOOD WEAR, EASTMAN, R-McCOYS, AERO, etc), I wondered if some of the details made new jackets almost "too perfect." I read reviews about...

Good Wear Tuskegee A-2 Battle Worn 60 Year Old Version with Art

Wow......... I love the nose-art, but mostly astonished by the degree of work you went through to "age" this beauty! I think it would take about a quart of JD in me before I could work up the guts to dunk any quality jacket in the tub! You could make money aging jackets for those of us who...

    Fox Creek Leather Appreciation Thread

news to me! Until browsing your query, I had never even heard of Fox Creek! Checked them out and they do seem to have some impressive quality leather, and at seemingly reasonable prices. I drift more towards the more traditional look (Highwayman style), and would be interested if they made...

    Luftwaffe Condor Jackets

Legion Condor Interesting era, but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone to reenact the other side! On a side note........... back when I used to deal heavily in militaria......... a had a Legion Condor ID card (both actually) from some LW NCO. Very Germanic looking dude with some very...

Getting my US Authentic A-2-ADVICE ON DETAILS

agreed I agree completely with P5640. The presentation of new details and sound advice is never wrong, as long as we don't force it on someone. I love learning from those who know, although I never aspire to owning super high-end jackets myself.......too cheap I guess! I'd rather have the...

Looking for quality leather field jacket

Details Thanks for the tip. Basically I want a 3/4 length (or longer than waist length) jacket, cowhide or goat, with 4 patch pockets on front (similar to cooper M-65) except normal turn-ver collar. Half-belt waist prefered, or inner drawstring will work too. I'll check Lewis, or I may just...
