    cuff straps In some cases they seem to actually serve a function of tightening to keep the wind from going up the wrist, but I think in most cases they are simply classy looking decorations. The shirt straps are a different matter, and not the same as jacket cuff straps.

    argh....... Thanks for all the opinions! The jacket is plain black with no variations in color or texture. Just looks older than it's actual years. Hard to explain. I'll try to get a photo downloaded. It really is best described as "pre-distressed." There definately is a rougher grain...
