Hello folks. Up for sale is a gently used Gibson and Barnes goatskin Commercial cut A-2 flight jacket in 42 TALL. I picked it up as a project a few years ago when someone removed a blood-chit patch from the back. The jacket is well made and I got it cheaply enough, so I created a custom patch...
Created by FL's own Mark Fisher, this jacket is intended for daily wear and hard use. Unfortunately, I grew and it doesn't fit anymore. Mark built this for me about 5 years ago and it has maybe been worn a dozen times since. It's a mid-weight HORSEHIDE, dark cordovan color and is not even...
rehash
This item just ran through on a thread last week sometime. Sorry! It appears to be discontinued Vanson stock, newly marketed by Orvis. At least, that's my understanding of the original thread!
Here's the thread:

Thank you!
Creeping is right (in my book)! China is known for horrible animal abuse. Until certain factors can be established, animals may suffer. I doubt there is really any way to verify anything though, as China is closed to external investigation groups.
Not a screaming PETA...
That jacket hurts my eyes........
Wow....... No offense intended, but that jacket looks like there was some corporate disagreement on where to put the pockets! A tragic compromise ensued!:D Gotta go with Papa here........... I'm guessing that's NOT the same Aero.
the middleman
I have no experience with Orvis, but I have always felt they were priced out of my league, for what you appear to be getting. Vanson is great, but I'm betting this jacket will show up cheaper from other sources.
my bad
You're right. No side straps. Thought I remembered them, but obviously not! :eusa_doh: As for the collar, I compared them when I got my Highwayman, and the Mercury seemed much thinner, like a shirt collar, rather than traditional jacket collar. Maybe it just laid oddly, I dunno...
Mercury
I had a Mercury. Loved it. It had side-straps at the waist much like a Highwayman, which is essentially what the Mercury is, except for the shirt-type collar. Well made and very thick leather. I must admit though, that I prefer the look of the Enfield. It just seems to have...
confessions...........
Takes a real man to step up to the plate and take a jacket like that for the team! :eusa_clap Indy's work is very good..... I had an Open Road from MC. I'm sure there are folks out there who look at such a display of "colorful individuality" more reasonable than...
HH weight
Quite literally, my FQHH Highwayman will stand up by itself if you poistion it correctly! The FQHH is very heavy.........you'll know it when you feel it!
Cooper
I've had a few Coopers, on and off, over the years. Best bang for a reasonable buck (IMHO), and they don't try to pass themselves off as anything they are not.......... like dead-nuts authentic. Most can be had used for $50 to $100 on the bay. Close enough for most folks and if it...
zippers? hmm.
Interesting idea, Dudley. That would be like the "G8" jacket. (If you want to see this, go to US Authentic website and look up the G8) On most new jackets, I find buttons rather hard to poke in and out of the stiff holes, at least until things break in a bit. I tend to keep my...
either works.......
My only complaint about button cuffs is, while they look classier (IMHO) they tended to snag on things until a button finally tore off. Never noticed it until it was long gone.
