    The Open Road Guild

    I think the registration shown in your post filed in 1937 is the one to go with... the 2001 refile by Stetson’s brand owners looks like it is citing a guessed 1920 first use. I’ve not seen evidence of that early a date. Late 1930s is right on for Vic’s beauty.

    What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

    Stetson 7X clear beaver sold in Phoenix, Ariz. c.1950. One of the first vintage hats I purchased... it arrived smaller than sized and crispy dry from the Arizona heat. My first attempts at restoring the size were not without hardship.

    Italian brands hats

    Thank you... yes, definitely silk - much the same character as you would find on a Borsalino liner in the mid 20th century.

    The Stratoliner Society {VINTAGE}

    Hello Dave... not sure why a Naugatuck, Conn. store was advertising in an Oakland, Calif newspaper, but the Boeing Stratoliner had its first flight in 1938 and in its trademark filing for the Stratoliner, Stetson cited a first use in trade date of April 19, 1940 (which was my Mom's 14th birthday).

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

    Pair' a dimes... that's what a fine quality Borsalino cost on the American market when this hat was made, though I suspect this one did not cost that much and it was sold in Italy... but it does represent a paradigm to me in what a hat should be and do on my head. It is one of my first vintage...
