It was hard to let it go, but it wasn't comfortable so the decision had to be made. At least I won't have to keep torturing myself any more, looking at it on the hanger :-( Time to move on, but what next? It is an addiction, no doubt!
It's true, you always think you could have got more money when things sell quickly but a jacket with those measurements needs a guy with a very slim frame to wear it, which would have ruled out many people. I'm just glad it went to a home where it will be appreciated, didn't want to go down the...
mike - my jacket found a new home very quickly and I really hope the guy loves it as much as I did. If I have any advice at all, I would say present your jacket as well as you possibly can - great photos in natural light is they way to go. Good luck!
Yikes! that's a tight fit! Only joking - I like a slightly longer fit than most but I understand you want the vintage look so I would go with 4 1/2" front and 5" back. Got to cover the belt at the very least!
Stephenc2032 - It appears you have not made enough posts for us communicate via the Private Message system, if you are genuinly interested in the jacket I would need an email address. Thanks.
Up for sale is my GW Ventura in russet brown, vegetable-tanned, aniline finished front quarter horsehide. I can't say enough about the quality of this Japanese hide or the jacket, but sadly it has always been a little bit too snug for me so has hardly been worn.
The tag size is 42" but...
Have to agree, until I got my IH 634's I had no idea what real quality denim was like to wear. 21oz is quite a shock first time on, but once you get used to the feel of it there's no going back. As a comparison I just got my hands on a new pair of of Lee Japan 101 Cinch Back Jeans 1937 - Dry...
Butte - the hide on that Dubow is stunning, the depth of color, the grain, everything. If your Ventura is made from the same stuff as that it's going to be very special!
Horsehide - I would let the Ventura and the vintage half belt go, if I got a fair price, but they are both a vintage fit...
How does it feel? If i'm honest, it feels restrictive and wearing a sweater under it is impossible. The fact that I haven't worn it much should've told me, but you're right I overlooked it because I know the current price and wait time really rules out a new one. I am still carrying a bit of...
Butte - It's real tough one mate, I love the thing but zipped up it's like a glove. It is wearable when it's open, which is why I've hung onto it - the price of a new one is just a killer!
Had a couple of enquiries as to how my Ventura fits so here some pics taken the other day, one with the jacket open and two zipped up. My gut feeling has always been it's a size too small, which is why I was thinking of letting it go, but I'd appreciate any opinions. The tough thing for me is...
Not much I can tell you really Ishmael, no label in it unfortunately. Just a really nice old front quarter horse half belt, lined in alpaca, with some amazing grain.
