major - its tagged as 42" but fits like a 38", dimensions are posted a bit further back in the thread. The Ventura is quite trim in the waist, a vintage type of fit I would say.
Yes, it was described as Russet brown, vegetable-tanned, aniline finished front quarter horsehide. A Japanese hide I believe - its a stunner, just a bit too snug a fit on me.
Grayland - It was one of the GW sale jackets, made for someone else but was returned as too small, so it was new but not made to my measurements. I just didn't realise what a vintage fit meant, you have to ignore the 42 tag size and read 38".
ButteMT61 - I've been thinking of selling for...
Not seal I'm afraid but my 2 1/2 year old Ventura is breaking in very nicely. Unfortunately, it's not had a great deal of ware because although its tagged as a 42" it fits more like a 38", it's wearable for me but just a little too snug for my 40" chest. Might have to let it go but I would...
It does look quite a bit longer than the standard Highwayman pattern, could I Could I ask if you specified the length when you ordered it, or did it come that way? For me, I could always live with a bit of extra length but a jacket that was half way up my back would have to go.
Great looking half belt, it's a beauty! Best hide, best pattern, you cant get much better than that. Fit looks spot on, I like the slightly longer body length. Enjoy every minute of the break in, it will pass before you know it, then you'll be looking for your next jacket - once bitten, it's...
Three very nice jackets. The Hercules looks very special, beautiful colour and obviously very well made - I wasn't even aware machinists did f**k about, shows what I know about leather jacket manufacture :-)
Good to get a close look around an Alexander jacket, looks like a slimmed down...
Another great fit, again a very neat looking back. I have a sample of this hide and it does have a newbuck like nap to it. My only concern would be how easily it stains, anything with grease on it would permanently mark it - careful when eating your chips :-) Good looking half belt, enjoy!
Good looking jacket Plumbline, similar to an Aero Long half belt but trimmer in the back. Looks like a very good cut and fit. Thanks for the pics, good to see Alexander jackets being worn, much better than the website photos. Enjoy!
Here's a kudu hide, you can see why large panels aren't viable. Second thoughts, goat isn't much bigger is it?

That's one stunning jacket! If that was my size I'd be seriously tempted! Looks like its crying out for some Pecards though, or would that devalue it? Good job it's too small, I won't have to worry about it :-)
I've never owned deerskin so can't compare. Although the kudu has some heft to it, it doesn't feel heavy when wearing it - probably due the softness and the way it drapes. Heavy front quarter horse is my favourite hide, but it can feel like wearing a suitcase particularly when a jacket is new...
