Shaul gave me the specs on both a 40 and a 42. This was after I gave him my personal data, and my desire for the jacket size. He said the 40 would be a good trim fit, while the 42 would allow for layering underneath, such as a sweater.
I ordered the 40R. Note that my new 42R Cockpit G-1 was sold...
I wear a 40R or 42R. The US Wings is a 44R. The fit is good, but a bit longer than I like in the back and sleeves. These do run small.
Excelled runs large. I have their A-2 in a 38R.
Any feedback on these guys? Quality of their jackets, and their customer service? It appears they have an "off the rack" G-1 that would be a good fit for me.
I just pulled the trigger, ordered the G-1 in a 40R. This was Shaul's recommendation for a "fitted" look.
From terms of quality of construction, and quality of the leather, my U.S. Wings Signature G-1 is hard to beat. It is actually the USCG issue jacket. I was advised that it is actually made by Schott. Slightly better overall than my G&B jacket.
Going to visit Titan Aircraft in Ohio tomorrow to check on my Mustang. Trying to decide...the Vintage B-15, or the CWU-45P? They are both warmer than any of my G-1's or A-2's.
Deacon: My Cockpit G-1 fit like the photo in post #16. But the sleeves were a bit long. I was told this is due to the DOD specs. And when sitting, jacket zipped up, it was not comfortable. But the Cockpit was a very "flattering" jacket. Kinda wish I did not sell it...the best thing about Cockpit...
Here is a great link on sizing and how to measure. Note that both the slim fit and relaxed fit jackets are historically correct, at least in an A-2.

I am old enough to have seen a number of these fashions come and go, only to repeat the cycle. Skin tight jeans, loose and baggy jeans, skin tight jeans, baggy jeans...etc.
Bell bottoms, straight cut legs, bell bottoms, straight cut legs, bell bottoms...
