Please allow me to explain...I am the polar opposite of perhaps 99% of the people who frequent this forum. Old, second or third hand jackets (vintage) do not interest me at all. Quality of construction, correct fit, and value is what drives my decisions on these issues. I am not dissing old...
Most G-1 jackets today have genuine mouton fur. Some have artificial fur. My 4 jackets that have fur collars are as follows:
3 with genuine mouton fur.
1 with artificial mouton fur.
The artificial fur on my American Made B-15 feels as soft and plush as the real deal. In one example, the fake is...
OK...we all have favorite "vintage" G-1's, but does anyone have a favorite current manufactured G-1? I just sold my Cockpit G-1 as it was a tad too small. But the fit was spot on, and the jacket looked pretty good while being worn. My U.S. Wings Signature G-1 is extremely well made (Schott), but...
Off topic just a bit, but relevant...why do we have to upload photos to a 3rd party before we can upload them here? Photobucket is about to drive me insane. Pop-Up ads, extremely slow, very frustrating.
How about we just directly upload from the pictures in our library, like we do on most other...
To a Texan, the Texas Flag is fairly iconic, but that's a Texas thing. Not arguing with anyone, and my wife will get the final say so. Funny thing...on the artist's FB page, the decision is for the flag version, 100%. Even a number of Europeans have voted for it.
I go to Amsterdam 3 to 4 times a month, so plan to hand carry the A-2 to Anneke. I found her through FB (Reproduction A-2 Flight Jacket Patches). She has gotten rave reviews from many who had her paint their A-2's.
My wife's name is Toye, so my Mustang is named after her.
Gibson & Barnes makes an MA-1. Flap pockets, no inside pockets, and the lining matches the exterior color. Price is not bad, and I'm sure the quality is there. Anyone have one of these?
Cockpit USA G-1. Listed on Ebay for the BIN price of $199. Too many jackets in my closet, and this one does not fit.

I'm sure you would! It cost me $210 (on sale) plus shipping. List is $260. Problem is, too many cheap Chinese knockoffs available on Ebay for $29.95. People don't care about quality anymore. The only reason it was for sale is I bought a nomex jacket.
Both jackets measure almost identical, but the MA-1 feels a bit more roomy.
Cockpit MA-1 -
Pit to Pit: 25"
Shoulder to Cuff: 26"
Bottom of Collar to Bottom of Waist Band: 24"
Top Shoulder Seam to Seam: 20.5"
The Alpha B-15 is the same, except 1/2 more narrow across the shoulder.
The quality is 1st Class, very typical of all of my Cockpit jackets...CWU-45/P, G-1, A-2, MA-1. Lightweight, but very warm. Mine is a size L. My jacket size is 42 Regular. The fit is good. Enough room to move your arms around without feeling like you are wearing a second skin. With that in mind...
Looking for a recommendation for someone who paints nose art on A-2's.
Thanks!
Found her. A great artist in Amsterdam who specializes in painting A-2 jackets.
Nice work, reasonable price.
