I still use a land line... The only way to still use my old (from late 40s, beggining 50s) telephone. That's the only phone that don't make me nervous when rings!! ;)
Health advices are very interesting. They change from heaven to hell and back to heaven in few years.
My wife's grandmother ate bacon until she stopped cooking, at 80 y. o. Died in 2007, aged 97.
Eggs and olive oil were pure poison in 70s - now they are recommended. I remember on old...
I'm happy that the old trolley frm Rio is in good hands! Rio (and São Paulo) sometimes looks like wanting to destroy everything that was really good and sentimental.
Did the trolley came with the internal advertisement? One of the most famous (and popular) poets at 10s made his living...
In several moments I turn silent the phone. When getting lunch or dinner with others, with clients, etc. People sometimes become with bad manners or without sense. Last week I couldn't answer, because I was dinning. A client called in one hour ELEVEN times.
Contax is a great camera. I use a Contax II, from 1937, with Sonnar f2. Very well worn, it's almost idestrutible. And great results.
Did you read anything by Lancelot Vinning, a pro photographer in UK between 1904 and mid-60s? He was just fnatic about Contax, and one of the very first to...
And Chandler used to "canibalize" his short stories into the novels. It's really a low production. Hammett too, just a hundred stories and a few novels.
I know Goodis, very good! "Shoot the pianist", and a few others (don't remember the titles in English!).
Can I suggest one too? Cornell...

Liked too Ross McDonald, but sometimes he try so much to copy Chandler's style. He is a huge...
Always give a look in the hat section... Always someting interesting to see. But I like too the other rooms - where I usually post. I realli don't know much about hats, except that I like to use one.

Caruso came to São Paulo in 20s. It was a big event - and a lot of immigrants came to see the...
Sometimes is hard to understand this today, but from the ending of XIXth Century to almost the middle of XXth Century opera was very very popular, specially between italians and descendants. Verdi was a symbol of Italian unification and nationalism.
And a lot of these people knew (and sung...
That's the trouble. When I readed Billie Holliday's "biography" I was very impressed. As after few years I was chocked discovering that so few there is true.
:D :eusa_clap
Great Holmes.
I wonder what he would say if lived in a world of Crtl+C and Crtl+V...
(OK, some texts are repetitive - but can't see this in criminal procedings).
Some of the guys look like policemen. Others (like Mr Sidney Kelly), if policemen, would be fine caracters of some Hammett's short stories... The way Kelly looked inside the camera tells very well about the kind of guy we are talking about.
