Hello all.
I'm a lawyer here in São Paulo, Brazil. Work only with criminal procedings. I also work with criminal analisys, after 5 years at São Paulo State's prosecuters (but now, of course, writing my relatories to another lawyers. I'm one of very few here to work with this).
Two blocks from my office... The building at right is the "Copan Building", from 50s, by Oscar Niemeyer - one of the most famous in São Paulo downtown.
Hi. First time I'm posting in this thread...
It's not exactly "today" - I need a little more time to develop and scan my images!! ;)
Nothing really vintage about clothes... All the rest is vintage, except the film used.
The hat is a Pralana brand; looks to me as a fedora model, but in...
Probably there are lots of good songwriters around. But the way pop music is today make impossible to find this production.
The old system of songwriter/arranger/musician is long time dead (since beatles days?). As all songwriter must have good voice and play himself the composition.
And...
This Shep Fields orch is one of the finest I ever heard. (and the rippling rhythm is one of the worst). A friend have a 78 of this sax orch; a beautiful piece, with a photo each side instead of the usual "all black".
I had a similar problem. Never understood how can a teacher say "you're not apt to read this" - until you really read it and say what you understood!
Maybe this is one of the reasons that so many don't like to read. No respect about the rythm of each one. Remember that in school my...
Sometimes a silly introduction is good because bring people for other things, as you said. And making possible the existence of a group of similar interests. Nobody stay with the copy when the true thing is still around.
I became introduced to Glenn Miller with a horrible LP with a carbon...
The method described by bluestone is wonderful to know different musicians and styles, even for just a first sight about.
After a while you can get a copy of "The Big Bands", by George T. Simon. It's a very good introduction to jazz and can give you some ideas about where to start.
Good luck!
Thanks for explaining.
The 70s revival was very strong here - I got tons of LPs with records from 30s - and some with new records, some with the old personel. (my own interest started with a "newly recorded with original members").
But this new revival didn't come here. Never saw anyone...
Purely analog certainly is more interesting and funnier!:eusa_clap
Once I got a roll of regular 8... A not-so-good film (reversal Fomapan), but cheap. Used this brand a while to make B&W slides. But never had use to it. Shot it, but then I remembered about the cutting in two parts. And never...
I listened Duke Ellington Orchestra (with Mercer Ellington) in late 80s... A good orchestra, of course, but made me feel that I came to world too late.
In a happy note, I had chance to listen last year a local orchestra, I think the oldest in activity with the same leader all the time. It is...
Not uncommon schools trying too much to stay with all students, so never want to make something to show authority.
My father was mayor of a big school for over 40 years. He always used a "three stick rule". In the last, the student was refused by school. Anyway, this was very uncommon to...
16mm is very handier and the results on screen are stunning. And in BW is still possible to develop yourself the film with great results (at least with 100 feet rolls).
Never saw "in person" a sound 16mm camera, just played around with some silent cameras (my own is a very simple, Keystone...
That guy is absolutely crazy!
I just imagine if, "in person", not by the computer, that guy would be so agressive. If yes, he would be dangerous. But usually this kind of guy just write what they would like to be - not a word is true. Uses the computer as a second personality. Anyway, just crazy.
