I was very fortunate to be introduced to Gene Krupa in 1972, and through that introduction I was able to get up front seats for the last performance in Chicago by the original Benny Goodman Quartet. I will never forget that night!

I listened Duke Ellington Orchestra (with Mercer Ellington) in late 80s... A good orchestra, of course, but made me feel that I came to world too late.

In a happy note, I had chance to listen last year a local orchestra, I think the oldest in activity with the same leader all the time. It is playing since 1936, and the leader, almost 100 years old, still plays a very good clarinet.

I saw Bennie Goodman play at the Mississippi River Festival at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville around the '76 time frame. Maybe a year or so earlier.

Wonderful musician.
