granted
Fabulous magazine Granta, I bought it religiously for years and have a whole shelf of back copies but it just got a bit much for the budget once I downsized to the country.

Picked this Redhead hunting jacket up, apparently they're quite collectable over there, nice patches, they're probably worth more than the coat round these parts.
AAH Smith st
I used to live in Napier st, and Little Smith st 30+ years ago, and it was rough as guts I tell you, the barman blew a guy's leg off with a shotty in the local one night...croissants nowhere to be seen :)
OK I got sucked into paying too much for this on the bay because of the serial number 507 and the photo wasn't totally clear, but this looks like an early 70's hybrid...to go with loon pants at a Bowie/T.Rex concert maybe...too small as well, but you have to take the chance sometimes.
Chapel st
Just wander Chapel st from Toorak rd to Windsor and you're sure to find SOMETHING!

and try Linda Black at 151 Chapel st; I got a nice Burberry trench there last year.
There's also some...
trap
I thought they might be tourist stuff, but fairly old, say 60's, as the workmanship is quite good on the binding of the barbs. I've got them on the wall next to my shell ikat hanging, and that looks OK for $25 worth. I'll hang onto them for another 10 years or so and flog em off!
bunting
The American reverence for their flag is usually a puzzle to outsiders, especially those of us who didn't throw off our colonial bonds by force.
But that's their way of doing things and that's fine.
Our flag is of no importance to me, I don't own one and wouldn't fly it if I did...
hup to
Definitely an M1923 to my eye, but no maker's name on the back..maybe it faded with wear, I think I can safely assume it arrived here with the first US troops in Qld in 42.
I knew I'd find the answer here! ;)
I'm hoping this thread will have some experts here who can tell me the vintage of this ammo(?) belt I picked up at an auction...paid a bit too much I think, but anyway, i thought it had to be pre-vietnam as it's not green.
depends on where
the dings were all on the edge of the brim at the front, and quite gruesome, so a judicious application of an emery board shaved the brim back enough for them to blend in, this can also tidy up some that aren't too conspicuous if they aren't too deep, otherwise there are...
Couldn't resist, ;) this Resistol 7-1/4 Self-Conforming Roundup still in the box with a couple of easily repaired moth dings for $10, as I said; not really mah thing, but a bloody nice hat.
the ends of the earth
Being a long way down here, flying boats had a long history in this country

anybody interested in a black Akubra Bogart in beautiful condition, it's a 57 stretched out from a forgiving 56, and has a real nice line, I'd like something green......
