graphic nouvelle
Exactly, in my experience, those who run any graphic applications on a professional level MUST have a mac, those who mainly use word/spreadsheet apps are better off with PC, I've been using PC's since the Amstrad days and Mac's drive me insane in about 3 minutes.....horses for...
more churchill
This is my favourite quote from him:
As a young man, Churchill was asked by a friend about the London dinner party he had attended the night before.
"Well, " replied Churchill, "it would have been splendid . . . if the wine had been as cold as the soup, the beef as rare as...
not so flash
I always thought anti-flash cream was to prevent skin burns from the muzzle flash of your OWN guns, whereas incoming rounds have no flash preceding them, and if they do hit you and fire breaks out, you have more to worry about than acquiring an unwanted tan.
Any old navy hands out...
Look what I found, these are at least 40 years old, and some maybe older as they belonged to a friend of my mum who was 80+ when she died, they've never been worn...
as usual I'd rather see if someone here has sumthin worth tradin, as opposed to puttin them on febay
fun, but....
Look I have to be a party pooper here, I spent 15 years or so working in the demolition business, hard heavy and bloody dangerous work, and there's no way you would get me wearing one of those Vulcan cowboy things or anything like it,
1. the brim would affect your upward and...
top of the morning
As someone who in his younger days put away a bottle a day, I can assure you that Irish whisky will give you less of a hangover than Scotch, I believe it to be due to the fact that it is thrice distilled.
the hard sell
I believe the one they already have "akubra is australian for hat" can't be beat, because it's true, it has become a generic term over here.
As for things biting... OK I had an 8-foot brown snake at my back door yesterday, which would have had me dead in half an hour, but it took...
here is an image of the shirt for those interested,
it's a Vintage XL, which is only 48" at the chest but a generous 21.5 inches across the shoulders, which is what just doesn'rt work for me. Which is a pity because I really like the design....and it is of course cotton, in mint condition, if...
Apoplexy
This reminds me of the time I wrote a letter to the editor of the Travel section of the country's largest newspaper, and I reproduce the text below...needless to say, they didn't print it, and I received a very insulting letter in reply from said travel editor, which unfortunately I...
late again
Sorry I didn't get back to this earlier, coconut buttons are easy to find, it's the bamboo ones that are rare, I have 4 King K metal buttons here I'd gladly swap.
The late show
Sorry chaps didn't check back on this thread for a while,
but here you are, a couple of moth dings but no holes and barely noticeable...a very serviceable lid. It's actually a bit bluer than it looks due to the flash washing the colour out a bit. they do seem to have them in the...
Dunno 'bout dead!
I recently rang the Akubra factory in Kempsey, to find out when they stopped doing cavanagh edges so I could use it as a dating device. I was told they still do it on a couple of lines, most notably the RENMARK, one of which I have and what prompted the enquiry. So it lives on.
express yourself
Look I hate to be analytical, but aren't the characteristics of a hat that are formed by the block, and then the forces at play such as what hand you take it off with, brim-pinching etc etc etc, what make your hat YOURS? Otherwise we'd all have open crowns like some sodbuster...
taste
A bit like venison, but it's very lean so has to be cooked quickly, and has virtually no fat so is very good for you, even so it mainly goes as pet food here.
I've picked up a fabulous as new 50's WAIKIKI SPORTS cotton aloha shirt that is just that bit too big for me, I've seen these going for $200. The size is old XL.
Any collectors out there with something interesting to swap for it, I take an L old size.
Pics will be put up if any interest shown.
