    Thanks for all the replies. I decided to go hatless as I didn't want it to get in the way, having constantly to take it off etc. I'm glad I did as I was given a wreath to hold and would of run out of hands. Felt really strange though. I don't feel properly dressed now without a hat.

    Thanks everyone for the kind words. Hopefully we'll have some decent weather and I'll have the chance to wear it. I see it as being my spring/autumn hat. With a panama for summer and my darker and thicker felts for winter. That's the plan anyway!

    The ribbon is actually a really really dark blue, midnight blue, but it does look black in my photos. On my monitor at least the 3rd image comes closest to its actual colour. Greg

    Thank you. I think it's perfect for those spring days when it's still too cold or there is some rain in the air, making it unsuitable for a straw or panama.
