I've machine cool-washed a number of jackets to remove weird smells (not mine) and to clean off excess leather treatments applied by previous owners including something that smelled of coal tar and also shoe polish. I've dried them flat and well supported and none have shrunk. Only one was...
I had my G1 repaired and re-waisted by Byson Leather I can't remember the price but they did a great job. Here is a link to their prices

I've taught myself to use Singers. The manuals are available online for free as pdfs if you search widely - you don't need to buy them. I've got an early (1929) hand cranked 99 with no reverse and an electric 201k. Both are excellent machines and will sew anything up to denim and leather...
A 1989 CP Company leather jacket -Massimo Osti design. Yes I know it's a 'mall jacket' but it's beautiful

He certainly was, my watch man had put me off repairing it owing to the cost and tbh I really needed the cash at the time. The buyer repaired it himself within a week! No regrets from me the cash was nice and the Precista is good looking accurate and if I lose I'll get another if I'd kept the...
I used a vintage new old stock Gillette contour razor - all steel handle, I found in my mums house. It had been bought but never used by my dad who passed in 2003. Thanks dad for a great shave and in addition the blades are still available in the UK and cheap.
Congrats - my fqhh Highwayman weighs just over 3 kilos and yours will be in a robust high quality cardboard box. You won't notice the weight when you're wearing it but anyone who picks it up will comment on how heavy it feels, (compared to the lightweight fashion jackets they're used to handling).
It happens on new jackets because Aero stitch their zippers in correctly - the teeth of the zipper should be covered by the leather. Be reassured, it will get easier with use when the leather gets more flexible.
Probably the best solvent for beeswax is natural turpentine - not turps substitute or white spirit - natural turps is expensive and smells like vic vapour rub you can get it from art supplies shops. I used to make furniture polish by cheese grating beeswax into a jug of natural turpentine in a...
Here's mine - a Dahon Jack I bought cheap at the Lincoln Antiques Fair. It folds in half for stowing in the trunk/boot when I go to fairs and its ideal for cruising along on all surfaces including grass while surveying for 'antiques they don't know the value of' [/URL]
Does anyone know anything about these boots or for that matter GH Bass - other than what Wikipedia says of course.
Cheers Rob
