Of course you are correct in general terms - but my point was - simple disappointment - I had a jacket with their provenance by email including their testimony it was a Lewis along with a picture of the jacket in their 1970s catalogue. I offered to send the jacket to them for their label to be...
Check for an oval shape in ghost stitching at the top of each sleeve and each breast - where a Lewis badge may have been removed. And as I said above ask Lewis for a definative answer. They're quite fast at responding and have a large archive of catalogues which include deleted styles...
You could try asking Lewis Leathers. They've been very good in identifying a couple of jackets for me that had no labels, confirming that both were Lewis - but sadly they won't supply new labels for them. Go to their website and send pics. Cheers Rob

They need to be exactly the same length as the original but it is possible if you've got no rip in the zipper tape. But if it's ripped they are especially useful if you are removing the zip for use on a shorter jacket - and shortening it from the bottom of the male side - to get good tape and...
At 64 I'm old enough to have been a left handed before I went to school but right handed since - the silly culture in those days encouraged lefties to practice being a righty. Consequently I'm not quite fully ambidextrous but for zips I am. Little did I know how useful this would be when I...
Depends on the zipper as some have soldered stop boxes. Also it's unlikely you could press the stop box on as securely as the maker if you could remove it. Another option is to have the zipper taken out and replaced left to right. The simplest advice however is 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'.
Just to repeat what I said at the end of my above comment but more clearly:
I have found that Talon number 5 zipper tapes will mesh perfectly with number 5 YKK tapes so halve the cost of the job by only replacing the male side with a compatible YKK of the same colour. Check the compatibility by...
I'll leave that judgement to you as you can see first hand the condition of your jacket. If you search you'll find this one with your label? - with a perfect lining just sold

Higher prices exist for Perfectos in good to excellent condition.
I would advise you to do a little more research before using the classified section. If you check out this style on eBay with a 'sold' filter on you'll find your price is too high. The members here are savvy enough to do the same. Your jacket is save-able but one can buy one of similar age in...
Dead end - Christian from Alpha Europe got back to me - the style is a few years old and he can't find it in their catalogue archive. Oh well good to know it's vintage ish and rare I suppose.
Gosh they answered - it's an Alpha Europe design from the same family as their 'Road Star' a fashion jacket loosely based on a bike jacket design. They've also given me the email address of Alpha Industries Europe too to get further details.
My wife Liz (the fashion police) says
NOT! Apparently I'm too old at 63 to wear the capital E Levi trucker jacket I keep in my wardrobe (or the same era Wrangler and Lee 101 versions I hide in the garage). I compromise by not wearing them when I'm out with her.
Same here so far but I've tried again using a different contact link.
Update - so far so good (as the man said each time he passed a window as he fell off the tall building), I've got their automated response promising a reply within 24 to 48 hours.
Hi All,
I bought this Alpha Industries blue cotton jacket in a charity shop,a couple of months ago but can't find out what it is. It purports to be a replica of a military jacket - does anyone know if it is a replica or a made up 'Harrington' in USN/USAF Blue?
When I was a lad in the late 50's and early 60's, searching through piles of battered often cover-less DC comics in Rotherham Indoor Market Hall, I bought my favourites, Superman and Superboy. I believe these scarce American comics had been brought to the UK as ships ballast (US newsagents...
You'd think they'd put one and one together and realise that without sellers, selling interesting stuff there would be no EBay! Buyers are essential too- equally. They should support the sellers and the buyers on merit!!
