I've never tried them on a hat but there are products for waterproofing tents that last for years but I'd avoid the water based ones to prevent shrinkage and I'd experiment with an old hat first.
Zipper stops can be bought on eBay.
A search for 'zipper stops' will bring up zipper repair items which include stops. High quality stops can be bought from Mash Japan. My Brooks black and red label cafe racer has zipper stops fitted at the point where the zipper tape curves into the leather...

A few years ago my daughter bought a mannequin from a 'shop fittings' warehouse in the U.K. that specialised in second -hand fittings. Try an internet search to see if you have one locally?
Lewis Leathers are very approachable and will answer your questions if you email them from their main site or message them from their Facebook site. They identified a couple of jackets I picked up, including one missing its labels and also sent me pics from their archived sales brochures.

But if you click on the link it explains that they are rebuilding their own site and directs you to (meanwhile), check out the Rufflander site you mentioned above.
My wife - 'the fashion police' tells me that Hawaiian shirts are the in-thing this year. I'm not sure if that's good news for us, or bad! I saw lots of looky likies in chain stores this morning!
I've just seen a brand new 'bomber' jacket in Next - a UK chain store, with a heavy duty brass repro of a 1970s Talon zipper so it looks as if YKK have taken them over as regius mentions above. If you get a vigilink ad page find the arrow to continue to Next and it'll go straight to the...
In the U.K. In the 1960's there was a 'fashion' for repairing frayed denim with leather patches - you could buy a bag of off-cuts at most town markets. I'm almost ashamed to admit I created a patchwork leather jacket from my capital E Levis jacket using contact adhesive. Perhaps this is a...
I've got an old mouton 'beaver lamb' coat from a charity shop and it looks great from the fur side but from the skin side you can see it's made of lots of smaller pieces - same principle as on a mink coat - a special sewing machine is used to join the small furs to make the appearance of a...
Well I did what I said I'd do - using a large enamel pot on the stove, 2 hours simmering in Rit colour remover (it came out pale yellow), rinsed washed and then 30 minutes simmering in Jacquard Acid dye (flame red - not quite right but close enough for me).ps I removed the label to prevent it...
Yes they did for me - it's a standard elastic strip and they know how it works and got the tension just right on mine. I can't tell you a price only they can - they did a big refurb on mine including a new old stock zip which they supplied, mends to lining etc and it was a really neat job on my...
Some rust specks on some blades from 60 to 70 years of storage but most of the ones I bought could be used but great original boxes. I bought some and will have them framed for display in my study. The seller has more so contact him if you're interested or wait for him to list more...
I've got a couple of Barbours - a two crest Solway zipper, bought from eBay in mint condition - found hanging in a garage never worn and a black International also from eBay. The Solway was a bargain - the auction finished at a silly time and the International was a bargain B.I.N. Pick up only -...
