I bought myself a Russian MIG-21 Flight Jacket that arrived on Christmas Eve, however the seller largely failed to mention the overall Stench of mould and oxide that has rotted away most of the metallic hardware!!! (AUGH!!!) The pictures really didn't show the smell, you know? anyway it's up to...
How about you mail me your Jacket and I'll put it to the test on a Suzuki DR-650...I might do a lot more than 75MPH on it on a quiet stretch. heheh...lookout!
Anyway, You'd love my guitar collection, nothing quite as pricey but I got some rare bass guitars lurking here there and everywhere...
That's me, Cabin man living the far north, and Yeah the B-3 is part of my deal here in the extreme cold, At the top of Lake Ontario that cold wind rips off the bay, come the witch of November it shall rattle your bones. Also, on the speak of a Marlboro man, I bought an Aero B-3 from WWII that...
I'm wondering if anyone has a pattern for the hood or maybe a spare hood? I have a nice brand new parka (Canadian Military) that I scored but it was missing the detachable hood itself.
I'd say you have to get creative to make it fit, a paper clip or some wire to attach the pull to the slider might do it if you're handy with the needle nose pliers. I don't know. I'd have to see photos to say how the operation should be performed.
If you plan to wear a B-3 in a torrential downpour, I wouldn't plan on it no.
a Light drizzle from time to time isn't going to hurt it no, it's pretty rugged material.
Rain isn't going to hurt it..But Maybe you get really soaked.
Unless you absolutely saturate the Leather with Dubbin or mink...
American military clothing is never quite the same once it gets washed unfortunately the cotton loses it's "Sheen" a little bit and the colour will lighten a noticeable shade and fade and become a little more soft and dull and it tends to shrink up 3%.
I can't give you a straight answer how to...
What are those Metallic Surfaced Guitars? They look like EGC guitars like Buzz from the Melvins or Cliff and Aaron use in ISIS. wow, I can tell the neck on that one is shaped with no taper all the way up the fret board I bet that's awesome to play!
I'd also like to recommend getting a scarf...
Exactly...Layer up, wear a scarf, you'll never put a grease ring around the collar with a nice military cotton scarf, the worse will be a slight film build up around the hood from exhaling frosty breath, shake the frost out vigorously, you'll never need to clean the Jacket, and if you spill your...
What's your favourite guitar in your collection?
We should start a band eh?
Mine is a '63 Silvertone Jupiter, but it's a wall-hanger for now...needs the fingerboard re-set unfortunately.
oh, and Yeah beautiful Jacket btw.
Is it really *that* dirty?
I'm looking at those photos you posted of the Parka, it looks absolutely fine!
In what way is the Jacket needing to be cleaned?
It doesn't appear to need a wash IMHO. you might want to let it air out if it's gone stale or has an aroma of old military clothing...
You could always get on the blower and phone around to some local wool shops and ask them for the wool Cleaner. you can actually get the eucalan stuff in small tiny bottles, like just over the size of a sample liquor bottle size of it, I'm pretty sure.
I always like to get a third or fourth...
I'm in Ontario Canada.
The armpits of a Jacket tend to be the place where the mould lives in my experience so if you can spot clean that jacket in any way, there's a good place to start...turn the body of the Jacket inside out, leave it to dry completely. Mould comes back from time to time...
If you can't find the Eucalan, I have some here I can take a photo of the bottle for you or might even be able to get it for you, It's a specialty item, so it's a bit more pricey than your average bottle of detergent. My Mother is a professional Felt maker, she works at a yarn shop in town so...
