    Crazy steer and Milwaukee steer

I think a lot of people don't look at the classifieds much so I'm putting a cheeky link here to my old style oilpull HWM shown here on the right which I listed there yesterday. http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?75055-Aero-HWM-in-the-old-oilpull

Aero Long Half Belt without flap pockets?

They always use a size up shell with the shearling lined jackets. Except the Thunder Bay apparently which is designed for the lining from the start.

Aero HWM in the old oilpull

Aero Highwayman in midweight old style oilpull HH Size 42. Made for me in late 2009 by Vicki. You can't get this lovely oilpull anymore and the new stuff is more like oiled suede. You can't get Vicki there either and she was one of the best they had. This hide is thicker than the new one and...

Do you wear your Aero while driving (does the jacket get seatbelt rash)?

+1 Yes driving is one of the best ways to break in leather particularly heavy FQHH. When I have a new one I do the opposite of the poster above who takes it off to drive and wear it at the wheel as much as possible. Even wearing it on a nice day and taking it off when I get out of the car.

Aero Long Half Belt without flap pockets?

Looks good on you. I ordered one very like it without the cargo pockets from the other place just a couple of days ago. I've had FQHH jackets with flap pockets around the lower chest area, and with a thick stiff hide they can be a bit uncomfortable when sitting down. I prefer the cleaner...

My correspondence with Phil Kalas from Horween regarding Chromexel

My CX sample seems a little bit thinner than that but hide does vary. It's probably closer to 1.4mm than 1.2 though. What colour is yours again? If I went with this leather I would prefer thinner rather than thicker if that was possible to arrange. I can see he might not want people to think...

Thurston Bros. - Official Affiliate Thread

I had a shawl collared shearling lined FQHH Barnstormer for a couple of years. It wasn't that bad once you had the harness on your back. You're a big fella...

My correspondence with Phil Kalas from Horween regarding Chromexel

I got the sample of CX steer I asked for from AL and it is thinner than the 4oz steer swatch I got from Aero some months ago. Impossible to measure accurately without a micrometer which I no longer have but it looks to be about 1.2mm or a bit more. Approximately 3 oz, as opposed to the 1.6mm or...

    Leather jacket question

Are you thinking of going over to the dark side to get one? They have plenty in your size. In fact the sizes seem to be very small compared to the Roadster I bought from the other sale. That's a 44 and measures 24.5" across the chest. Or size plus five inches. My 42 HWM measures exactly the...

Not you especially no, and I'm sure the sleeves are the same. But like most people I doubt if your arms are.

    Crazy steer and Milwaukee steer

Never bought a tailor made suit? Any half decent tailor takes account of that since most people have one arm longer than the other. Just look at all the fit pictures on this site to see that. My right arm is three quarters of an inch longer than my left. A good tailor will compensate for one...

    Crazy steer and Milwaukee steer

Looks good. I don't think there's much wrong with the sleeve length. On jackets long sleeves aren't as necessary as they are with overcoats and can look very odd if too long. My right arm is a bit longer than my left too as most right handed people are probably. I know this came from the sales...

My correspondence with Phil Kalas from Horween regarding Chromexel

I'm interested in that too. The video on their page shows one of their jackets being put on and taken off and it looks fairly soft for a new CX jacket. Clearly they softened it up a bit first. But nevertheless it doesn't look like from what I've read the 4 oz CX steer is like when it's new...

    Alexander Leathers

Yes with some people it ain't paranoia, someone really is out to get them... I've bought from Aero for a few years now and more recently AL, and I've had very good experiences with AL this year...In fact like someone else above when I sent back an introductory sale item which didn't fit Amanda...

    Alexander Leathers

I bought a jacket from them in their introductory sale and Amanda was happy to get an inch taken off the sleeves. They posted it later the same day too. Adding to sleeves I don't really understand though. Maybe he just miswrote it?

    Leather jacket question

No knowledge on these jackets but you might do well buying a good make used on eBay. Or Alexander Leathers is selling off new jackets cheap too. They have some bike jackets that might be within your budget on their outlet page. They do proper jackets like Aero's but are a lot cheaper on the...

    Crazy steer and Milwaukee steer

I've got a sample from six months ago when I was looking at their A1 and that is thinner than this and shinier. In fact the sample is quite nice and it's a pity the jacket wasn't made of that... My old jacket is made of thicker and stiffer hide again and took a fair bit of breaking in. Because...

    Crazy steer and Milwaukee steer

New from the sales page and old. It doesn't fit properly anyway and will have to go back. The hide looks okay on the pictures but in the flesh it's oily to the touch and very matt. Like an old jacket that's been flooded with neatsfoot oil.
