Ask for some samples of the two. I doubt there's much difference between the black and brown goat. I have one of their jackets in black goat and it is a nice hide. But if you search here you can see pictures of jackets in their brown goat which look just as nice.
I really like the thick ones in the middle close up. I soppose it would be possible to commission someone to knit one. Just a question of modifying an existing pattern a bit.

He calls himself a part time troll.....
As opposed to a full time one?
Obviously the lining or what you can get on under it is what gives it most of its warmth in cold weather. But heavy leather is still warmer than light leather just by itself. I can wear a goatskin jacket in cool summer weather when a horse or steer jacket would be too hot even with a cotton lining.
Depends how robust the suit was I should think. It's what I was told when I traded it in later. I was also told that I should have been sold a size down if I didn't want to wear it over a jacket or suit.
They are sized to be worn over a jacket or suit. Which is why if you don't want to do that you should size down with them. I bought one a couple of years ago and was persuaded to go with my chest size which was up from the size I usually have in Aero's boxy jackets, and it turned out to be too...
I'm with Edward. I like a jacket to look as it would have done at the time, and for the age to come with use and not someone 'time wearing' it artificially. When I was young the first thing I did with new leather jackets and jeans was to kick them down the street a bit and get some wear into...
I had a problem with mould when I used to keep my jackets in a spare room in my old stone house. A couple of years ago in a very wet spring I went to check them and there was mould on the backs of two of them. After I sunned them and cleaned them I finished off by conditioning and putting a...
You can buy spray on stuff that stretches leather. Shoe shops use it. You could put two pairs of socks on and walk about indoors with it on. Then three pairs...
Once stretched it won't go back.
Sorry to be a nuisance. I think the 44 is more my size but it wouldn't fit very much like a thirties pilot's. I am always slightly between sizes. Thanks again.
Sorry to hassle you Dr H but is there any joy on the 44 sizes? I have my eye on a 44 which is for sale and don't think the seller knows how to measure.
Those measurements for the 42 would indicate that it's a similar fit to an A 2 and might fit me well for length and sleeve and be a good slim...
Thanks for doing that Dr H it's very useful. I assume they are all the same? I don't believe Eastman alters jackets at all but just make R and L versions? So I assume this would be a regular? Would the leather fit fairly tight on the waist like an M422A or baggier like an A2?
