You can buy spray on stuff that stretches leather. Shoe shops use it. You could put two pairs of socks on and walk about indoors with it on. Then three pairs...

Once stretched it won't go back.

Quite - forget about length, other than a v.slight easing of a tight heel.
A good wooden stretcher (or a semi-pro, alloy one) can ease a shoe widthwise if done steadily. Dont wind it all on at once, but do it in stages. (Women can get a canted boot version to get into high (ish) heals. Make sure you know where you want the effect to be and ensure the stretcher is in the shoe correctly. Shoe menders have very effective pro machines. Make sure, though, that the shoes are in good condition first - a split seam isnt clever. And use shoe trees after.
