I saw a BBC programme recently about the early jet age and did a screen grab of this Russian Mig 15 pilot from 1952. I was intrigued that he was wearing a HB jacket with cargo pockets from what seemed like a slightly earlier era. The quality is poor since a screen grab of old film isn't great.
Yes it is a little bit redder than the swatch I got but hides always vary a bit from batch to batch. AL say it's 3.5 oz I think and that's about right. When I wrote that it's not that heavy I meant it doesn't weigh really a lot like some of the 4 oz ones are said to.
The only Horween FQHH...
I sent them most of the measurements of a HWM which fits me as I like. The only measurement I asked them to work out for themselves was the navel, and I asked them to make it so the side straps were pulled in a bit in case I get fatter.
I'm an old fart now and it can be hard keeping the...
Thanks nevadapd. My impression of it is that this hide will age pretty well. I've always liked steerhide and I prefer it's warmth to the touch, and softness when broken in to FQHH. I do like the way Horween CXL FQHH ages though so I'm hoping that this will be the best of both worlds.
It won't...
I just received my new AL jacket in Horween CXL Steerhide.
It's a Drifter without the cargo pockets and with two breast pockets instead of one. Plus a little extra length. I was looking for something almost as long as a LHB but not quite. The colour is what they call Havana and is a lovely...
I had a 38 pattern from Aero a couple of years ago and it was like it was made for a chimp. Tight under the arms with very high armholes. It had to go back. That pattern only works if you're like a rangy thirties kid with high shoulders and fairly narrow upper torso.
It's an American trait, they are much more forthcoming with a complement. As a Brit there I always found it slightly embarrassing to be openly complemented. That's an Australian characteristic too.
Here I do see people checking out the jackets and the leather. Up close it is different to the...
It's not so long as a Barnstormer is meant to be, and it's sewn. The free hanging lining on the Barnstormer never worked for me. I had a shearling lined one and the cord hung below the leather at the back and its inside edge started to fray in a week and showed when I sat down wearing it.
I...
I've had a few and it's never happened to me. Did break a fly zip once though when I was out socialising. Had to borrow a safety pin. Those big shoulder bags that girls used to carry had all sorts in them.
You can always send it back for a new zip to be fitted if it does fail. Don't see why it should though. I'd take all these interweb reviews with a pinch of salt.
Zat way lies madness mon ami.
You have to imagine the French accent there.
]Definitely fifties/sixties. Based on the car coat used by Paddy Hopkirk and co in the Monte Carlo rallies of the early sixties supposedly. Though I've never seen a picture of any of the MIni Cooper team wearing one.
Vast and bulbous. Not fitted. Not stylish. Nice coat and I like mine a lot...
Yodel are bad though. So bad they changed the name from Home Shopping but it didn't change the service. Hermes are rubbish too and they're mainly messengers of bloody Amazon not the gods. They dumped Yodel for them which tells you something. They use them as first choice because they're cheap...
I expect it'll get there in plenty of time. It won't go anywhere until the weekend is over probably. Parcelforce aren't so bad, there are plenty worse. Reviews like that can be misleading because most people only write one when they have a bad experience.
For comparison stuff usually gets...
