Only 2 places I know would be able to bind a brim edge like an original = Optimo & Art Fawcett.
Major Mike at Buckaroo needed a part to be able to do 4 ligne edge binding & I never heard if he got that part.
If he did, that makes 3.
Art may be able to clean it too....
You are stating pretty clearly it is a hat "not to wear" but my initial post doesn't address wearing. Saying it is a collectors item isn't same as saying is shouldn't ever be worn. Reading a little between the lines which is okay. I just wanted it clear that I wear 'em...
Totally disagree. Like a gun that is never shot, car that is never driven, motorcycle never ridden....to never be used for intended purpose is unnatural.
Buy it, crease it, wear it often....
At that size & if you could get it for the entry bid, $405.95 is not that bad for a true collectors item = those brims aren't made anymore & likely never will....a part of hat history.
Beaters for me are modified western hats off ebay or thrift stores.
Good, old Resistols & Stetsons can be had for around $50-$60.
Look at Conversion Corral thread....
Welcome to the Lounge = first round is on you!
I like the open crown one he wears a good amount of the time on The Voice, except for the partial brim binding.
Don't get that at all but I'm not that hip to begin with.
The crown & flat brim gives off a Billy Jack/Native American vibe. The band & binding have a Johnny Depp/Vagabond aura I...

Campdraft over a Temple every day of the week but then I'm a notorious TAR-fanatic.
Even if you, perish the thought, put a wider ribbon on a Campdraft of even cut down the brim, blasphemy, you have a better felt body with the Akubra than the Temple. JMHO
Welcome to the Lounge.
A 5 1/2 open crown is same for size 7 as a size 7 1/2, height-wise.
I'm a 7 5/8 & prefer a 5 5/8 open crown at least in my custom orders, but that is for creasing options.
I don't look good in stingy brims, nothing under 2 1/2", most 2 5/8" or wider.
Your face makes...
When compared side-by-side, the Heritage Silverbelly & the Imperial Silverbelly had visibly different levels of ribbons.
Not sure that has remained the case, but when we got them to do the initial Campdraft Deluxe run, they were different.
