It was in unworn shape in a pristine box as well, all the tags & labels still attached, just like I pulled it off the shelf & left the store...Holy Grail type find...
Box...
We stopped by Best Hat when we had the FedoraFest that visited Garland hat factory & Peter Bros.
Seemed most of their hats were American Hat Company as well as customs.
Nice shop with nice prices...
I've had 2 custom westerns, both over 15 years old. Totally shocked at what they'd cost to replace them now.
I'm sure the base felt bodies have increased some but not to the multiple that some are asking. JMHO
Wash by hand in cold water & Woolite...
No idea but have seen a few "tarnished" vintage liners in hats that look unworn.
Some had cellophane type wrapping that deteriorated over time & left residue on the liner.
Most crushers are wool felt, at least all of mine have been.
Wool in warm water = shrinkage
I only use room temp or cold water on wool hats.
Is your crusher wool?
I had a re-enactor buddy that got his hair caught in a drill press & it "scalped" him.
Can't imaging what it was like back in early 1800's living thru that....
Got a used, goat, Indy style US Wings. One of my best fitting jackets. Like it & wear it a lot.
If it had slash pockets instead of the flap ones, it would get more wear.
You can get a number of open crown western models from American Hat Company.
Personally, I can't talk to their durability in the wet as I usually get older model Resistols of ebay to use as beaters around the ranch....
:arated:
The Glen Grey can work well with black, IMHO. It has a bluish tone to it.
The Moonstone has more of brownish undertone to it.
Good shopping BDH!
