As to what Carlos is saying, you have to take into account your torso to leg proportions. Which is short and which is long.
I have a short torso and long legs at 5'6". There are a few clothing manufacturers who sell clothes for shorter guys. They assume a long torso to short leg...
Have you ever tried real barefoot shoes? Vivobarefoot makes some nice boots which I wear. I will never go back to wearing regular shoes or boots again. Never.
Thanks for nice words.
Thnikkaman,
I will try to get a back picture up later. We have had the most gloomy weather here and the light is just terrible. When I get back I'll see what I can do. I think the back of my jacket is the same as forum member LaymanX who posted pictures just a short...
I must have an inside pocket. Not for anything bulky, but for papers or an envelope that won't fit in pants pockets. I use it constantly. Does it show through? A touch but I wouldn't notice it unless I was looking for it and with all that's going on with the leather, such as creases, grain...
My first brand new Aero is a 1930's Half Belt. My previous Aero jackets were second hand and heavily worn in so this is an experience. It took a while, an eternity, so it seemed, but it finally made it to my door last Monday.
Some may find it boring--it is black, all black. Black FQHH, black...
Just arrived this morning. A new Aero BArnstormer in midnight blue. Fits a bit tight I have to say. High armholes, very high. Neck is choking me a bit. Chest is snug but I am sure it will loosen up some. Some may think it is too short but I am happy with the length, which is all that...
Square feet is more like it. The guy who told me this was an Aspegers sufferer. They are usually dead on accurate with numbers. Not this time.
The only thing I can think of is it might take a few extra to perfectly match hides.
See, that is what i asked the person. If it took 30-50 hides on average to find a few that were suitable. He said it was 30-50 hides used for one jacket. He himself makes clothing for reenactment groups so i thought he might know something. Seemed incredible to me.
I have heard it takes 30-50 hides to make a leather jacket. Is this so? If it is, what the heck are they doing with all those hides? There is a front panel, back panel, sleeves and details. Where does all the leather go? Is the 30-50 number wrong?
Great jacket. I think this gets overlooked in favor of the Barnstormer. I like the beltless look and the collar and lapels are different. It even looks good open, which surprises me being a double breasted jacket.
It would be heavy, though this is a mid-weight leather, not heavy FQHH. I think the battered seal would be just as nice.
Have you ever posted pics of your Mariner? A separate thread on the Mariner would be nice as I see so few pictures of it.
I think I get you Mister Cairo. I don't get how the jeans things has become an existential crisis. I have mixed feelings about it but they are now timeless. Maybe timelessly in bad taste, maybe timelessly fabulous. People will differ. The hipster look? That really is a crisis of civilization.
If you want to see broken in top grain leather look at Ralph Lauren's Langlitz. That's beyond broken in.
Also, someone on the forum has been, I don't recall who, has been trying to enforce a proper definition of "patina" on different threads. I think he is right to do so, as it does seem to...
I never wear blue jeans with a sport coat but I do wear other colored jeans with sport coats, mostly grey and khaki jeans. I have a tough time getting over the slob factor that blue jeans and sport coat have for me. It must be that Michael Moore guy who put that in my head.
I think blue...
I have a sample. I am pretty sure it is the same thickness as the other FQHH samples I had, but I don't have the other samples any longer to compare. So a confident yes, to answer your question. Same brown core as others.
