Can you tell me if the light weight cow is much different in appearance than the mid weight? I had a sample of the mid weight and didn't think it was attractive, though it seemed great for protection. Your jacket looks fabulous though.
I never hang my leathers up. I always get the image in my mind of the jacket strecthing though it probably is nothing to worry about. I just toss them somewhere where they lay flat for the summer.
Clothes should be able to breath air when in storage, or so my tailor tells me. Plastic wrap...
If the fit jacket was a 36 in the 30's HB, then what size did you do in the Premier fit? Did you size up or down or stay the same?
Or am I wrongly assuming that the fit jacket was a standard 30s halfbelt?
Mike,
I respect that you actually went to the store. Still, I can't account for the difference in perception between us. I have seen the Schott horsehide, new and broken in. Flimsy was the last thing I would have thought. Shiny, yes, but so is CXL. I don't know why the sales person steered...
I think with your requirements, you might be better off checking out Lucky Brand. I shop there for jeans and shirts and I always notice some leathers on the rack. They are usually in your price range and weight requirements. They even have some Schott made jackets that go on sale for 40% off...
Nick123:
Langlitz is a whole different category. I have a sample of the cow and it is probably 4 oz or more.
And yes, for "pretty", Schott is at the top of the list. The unfinished hide lets the oils show through. CXL is good looking in its own way. Both are worth having.
I keep hearing this and I am convinced that the people saying it are comparing the Horween CXL to one of Schott's fashion leathers, not the heavy naked cowhide. Aero lists the FQHH as 3 oz. Schott lists the heavy cowhide as 3 oz. I have both and they seem to be the same thickness.

OK, your point is what? That they don't care? I guess not. They don't care. I don't buy.
They aren't taking cutom orders. Again. They weren't a few months back. They always seem to be too busy to take a custom order. I have no idea how they operate, but it would be nice if they set up...
Ton,
You made some good points and answered a few questions I had. Though your example used the pebbled cowhide leather used in some Schott jackets. I was really thinking of the leather used in their premium jackets: NAked Cowhide, Steerhide and Horsehide. I don't see any of the premium...
I couldn't tell you what makes great leather, but I know great leather when I see it...I think.
Could anyone who thinks that the Schott premium leathers, especially the naked cowhide, is not top notch, please explain why? I don't know all that much about grading leather, but that one seems to...
While I feel for you taller guys, keep in mind that schott does offer tall sizes in many models. They don't offer short sizes at all, as far as I know.
I am not crazy about the Schott or the Thedi. I thought the Schott was interesting because of the slim fit, which seems even slimmer than the 689 and others in its series. This Cafecto is a bit too Perfecto and not enough Csfe for my taste.
I don't get the dislike some people have for...
I did a search and got no results for this forum so it seems to be a very new item. A cross between the Perfecto and the Cafe Racer in a slim "Japanese" fit. I like it. It seems the slimmest Schott I have ever seen.
Anyone tried one on...
