Very Very similar Cooperson .. about the same weight give or take a 1/4oz and certainly not like the really heavy steer which had become common in recent times. It's really flexible but not floppy ( if that makes sense) ..... it's got a really nice feel, heavy enough and substantial but not...
Done .. .the Indy will be posted after I've had the sleeves shortened 1" :D
Then comes the Aero Halfbelt Deluxe ................ I do really like New Leather jackets :D
Alfred Sargent's .... "D ring" chukka boot (single D ring) ... they're old(ish) but still possibly the most comfortable boots I have .... an they match the jacket really well being of very similar leather :)
I never liked really short jackets .. I wouldn't want it any shorter .... It'd then feels like I was wearing a Bolero jacket. It's one of the reasons I don't really like A2's .. sort of too short and too neat ( and elastic cuffs and bottoms really niggle) ..... it's a personal thing, I love...
Very similar in style to the Highwayman ... and a typical 1930's - 50's style.
Modifications - Weathered Gordon Strome weight lining.
Two inside pockets
3" bottom moleskin panel
Moleskin pocket bags
std sleeves ( this will be used on my bike)
Now before ANYONE starts .... there are...
Very similar in style to the Vest De Rally ... and a typical 1950's / 60's car coat style.
Modifications - Weathered Gordon Strome weight lining.
Two inside pockets
1/3 bottom moleskin panel
Moleskin pocket bags
1" off the sleeves
Now before ANYONE starts .... there are two things I...
Who the feck would want a shorter jacket than that ... !!!
Looks a great fit Seb .. a little smaller than I'd like perhaps .... but suits you man :0)
Wear it well ....
2 1/2" brim if possible .... like a Fed IV but in Charcoal or similar.
Doesn't have to be a Borsalino and wool felt would be fine .... but if it was a Borsalino and fur felt that would be fine also ....
PM me if you have anything ... I'm UK based also but can have it sent to Houston or...
Not an expert on Belstaffs .... but this is identical to the "modern" trialmaster in the Belstaff Outlet Store at Bicester Village ( was there on Sat looking at a "Knockhill" Leather jacket which turned out to be a bit of a waste of time). I tried on a few wax cottons and all had the branded...
You can easilly put a rubber cover sole on a leather sole ( would be glued though .. but no less wearable .. in fact it would protect the leather sole underneath).
The Beckman - which I have the 9035's and not the ones you show - is actually a leather base with the Vibram rubber sewn into...
I'm with all the other replies re. comfort .. if you're comfortable in it ... then it fits. If not ... it doesn't !
Fit is such a subjective thing ( believe me I should know) some people like jackets a little looser than the 1940's cut .... others a little smaller .. more 1920's. I'd go for...
I have a myriad of Aero's as well including:
2 x ANJ-4's
2 x VDR ( 1xSteer, 1xFQHH)
Highwayman (Oilpull Steer)
1950's Halfbelt (FQHH)
Californian (Buffalo)
Long Halfbelt (FQHH - Medium weight)
Halfbelt Deluxe (FQHH)
D-1
I'm not picky and have NO favourites ... only favourite...
I'd probably go down the road of one of the "renovating creams" ... WOLLY do a great range of colours which will not only cover up scratches but will also shine up a treat and they have a considerable amount of colour in them so choose as close as you can.
Alternatively there are a number...
I did alright :)
The most expensive was the first one at £560 ..... the rest have been cheaper except the two Horween ones which have been at retail.
They were funded by the sales detailed above .... so no wallets were killed in the making of this collection :)
nice jacket ...
Finally a style from that era without patch pockets ...... but still one for the button fetishists only ( and that's not me).
Liking the fact it's steer .. I really NEVER understood the facination with FQHH ... there are just so many more options with steer.
UK sourced ...
