Thanks for the response. That’s what I was thinking, but it’s good to have someone with more experience weigh in. I try to palm the crown instead of grabbing the pinch.
I have a hat with a thin spot at the pinch. It’s not terrible yet. Will it continue to stress the felt to leave it creased as is? Would it be better to recrease so that the thin spot is flat and not pinched? The hat looks OK right now; I’m concerned with the long haul.
Agreed, and I do understand. 2 1/2” has been my preferred width, but now I’m wearing my 2 3/4” hats and thinking “Geez, this brim is small.” I just didn’t know Strats came in anything but 2 1/2”, so now I’m just a little bit more informed!
Beautiful Strat. Now I have to go back through the thread and figure out when the Strat brim size got smaller. This one has the same dimensions as my OR with the same liner crest, sweat stamp, and tag style.
This Adam has become my hat of choice for outdoor cooking.
For general I’m-not-sure-what-may-come-up stuff, this Stetson “The Sovereign” has become a frequent grab and go hat.
I ended up taking both for a two day trip.
Thanks! This is right out of the box. The felt is soft and malleable enough that I could put it in a cattleman’s in a minute, but I prefer the pinch.
The newer OR usually has the cattleman’s crease, but with the older ones it is not uncommon to see them creased differently.
Royal DeLuxe Stetson OR in a deep charcoal color.
It doesn’t look like it, but the brim is a full 2 3/4”. Crown is 5” as creased, 5 1/2” open.
The size tag is missing, but it looks like it was the black square tag. Nothing under the liner. The sweat is as soft as butter. My best...
