Rubbish. He appears to have some sort of bee in his bonnet about it and is reading into my posts what he wants to read, and so are you it seems. Because nowhere have I tried to claim that my tastes should be shared by anyone else and in fact I went out of my way to say just the opposite up the...
Excellent find. It must have spent a lot of its life in the back of a wardrobe. It’s so hard to find old coats and jackets like this in such good condition nowadays.
You’re just putting up straw-men Dirk. I’ve already written that’s got nothing to do with wearing jeans for days on end. But you just can’t see past your own hang up. It’s become a dialogue of the deaf, and I’m afraid that there are none so deaf as those who will not hear.
Been known to wear moleskin with tweed and other trousers too. Which was really what I was saying to DW there. He seems to be hung up on his own trip about people wearing jeans for days on end though.
Well, I have a lot of ‘looks’ depending on my mood and the places I’m going to visit. You may think the above pics make them look dull and student like and you are entitled to your opinion. But why do you expect everyone else to share it? Anyway how is wearing jeans instead of say twill trousers...
Wouldn’t like to actually relive it but there are certainly parts of it….
It was such a great time to be young and my generation had the best of it. I would not want to be young now and expect to be dead when it all goes tits up.
You spectacularly missed the point. They work as a look Duh! I couldn’t care less whether some think it’s cliched or not, and like all looks it depends on how you pull it off and the quality of the clothing and shoes.
BTW as I implied I don’t wear jeans at all unless I’m going out to a local...
IMO it’s too long and the sleeves are too. I think you may have point about the hem being higher and so not so tight if it’s tapered a bit there. I think those jackets are meant to be bum freezers. Seems a bit big on the shoulders too unless that’s your deltoids sticking out.
Thing is it will...
My default is moleskin trousers. They really are the most comfortable winter trouser and even better than corduroy. Wouldn’t wear em with a good tweed jacket though. The reason people do wear jeans with jackets like that is because it adds an air of informality. It may have become a bit of a...
Don’t know about you but when I’m not wearing leather jackets I’m wearing Harris or Donegal tweed ones which have plenty of texture and if looked at closely glow with vibrant colours. Personally I think they go well with dark jeans. But I don’t get my knickers in a twist about what I wear.
When I wear a tweed jacket I almost always wear it with dark jeans. If I wore corduroy or twill with it I’d look just like all the Welsh farmers on a day out around here. Just a bit smarter than most of them. Though my old doctor here had a nice range of quite flashy tweed suits. He looked a bit...
Actually Hitler set out his route to world domination in his writings. But no one really took them seriously at the time. First invade and control western Europe. Ideally neutralise Britain so it was out of the war or better still was an ally - because he admired the British Empire and its...
I’m finding it hard to justify even having a sheepskin anymore. I had a Cirrus B3 replica for years and Irvin repros, and now have an Eastman Irvin which I can hardly wear at all in the constant driving rain of the last two winters. Let alone it being so warm for the season. I knew a bloke in...
One of the US war aims was the end of the British Empire. More for trade reasons as any other in reality. But Churchill did not accept that the terms of the Atlantic Charter were relevant to the British Empire. Believing they applied to German occupied countries only. In fact decolonisation...
