Due to the uniformity of the coats in the pictures of the early war crews as above and here it seems certain that officers as well as men were issued with these grey/blue coats.
But other darker coats were worn which seem to be black but might be dark brown. According to some sources only...
Not sure it does move on though does it? After Spade springs himself from the frame he’s been put in and sends the Astor character down, he tells the cops where the rest are and I assume they all get captured and taken down to the station for a nice chat.
I’m not doubting that the above coat was used on a U boat but it’s just whether it was issued as uniform or not. As with many things the web age has only clouded the issue and it’s very difficult to find an authoritative account. I would doubt that coats were issued to officers though since they...
Based on a German coachman’s coat from much earlier I thought. In fact I believe I’ve read that just like the Battle of Britain era Luftwaffe pilot's jackets they were private purchase.
I’ve got an Aero Mariner which is well used now and I prefer to think of it as a coachman’s coat rather than...
What are you talking about? I certainly don’t represent you thank God. I always thought you were a bully and told you so on one of the BK threads a couple of years ago when you were laying into the BK man. That was before you took a holiday from this forum.
Actually I think it’s mainly the way the two jackets are photographed. In one the zip is not done up so the collar opening seems bigger, and in the other it is done up so it doesn’t. I bet if you had both jackets side by side there would be little difference. I don’t like that collar much in...
First of all welcome to the forum since no one else has had the good manners to do so. You must feel you’ve wandered into a strange place with some of the replies to what must have seemed like an innocent question. It wasn't always like this but I’m afraid some of the inmates here have become a...
No superiority intended or implied in being a customer and not a fan. Just a fact. If any intellectual property was stolen it will no doubt be dealt with in the appropriate place and not here. Lots of people make claims about that sort of thing, including Apple and Samsung in their rather more...
I bought one about three months ago and the wait was quite long and they were busy. I’m not surprised that no one posts here about buying from them though, are you? I mean I only mentioned them in passing on this thread and you jumped straight in. Not that there are all that many reviews or...
Give it up, it’s become old and stale.
They just finished a collaboration with Barbour making their Phradeo jackets BTW, and I doubt you have seen the Clayton leather. But it is rather fine.
I bought one from the sale page a month or so ago in Battered FQHH which I’ve only seen in swatches before. It’s a very nice hide and soft from the off. Not sure what to call the garment really. It’s long for a waistcoat and more like a modern gilet in the way it's worn. I wear mine under a...
From swatches I’ve been sent recently from both Aero and Eastman the Vincenza from both appears to be the same leather, and even the writing on the back of the swatches seems to be in the same hand. It isn’t very heavy, and that isn’t what it’s about. It’s meant to drape the way period jackets...
You can buy mouton but good quality stuff isn’t so easy to come by. You would need to remake the collar with mouton on one side. You can’t just sew it on.
You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah
L Cohen.
I had a HWM made of the old oil pull in 2009 and it was beautiful stuff with a deep colour like a horse chestnut. But I bought one of the newer kind a year or so ago from the sale page and it was nothing like it. It was more like oiled suede and very soft to the touch with no real surface. As it...
