The OP could look on eBay UK where the Eastman’s turn up pretty often in lightly used condition and don’t fetch all that much. Or how about this original if the size happened to be right. It looks really nice for a post war jacket and it's even been listed almost correctly…...
You wish…. You wrote a couple of weeks ago that SB jackets weren’t turning up here much anymore, and I replied that it was hardly surprising people didn’t post their new SB jackets here given the comments and grief from a few noisy members.
Looking at how this thread went yesterday since I last...
Looks nice and the fit is fine. As you will know it will mould to you better when it breaks in. This from someone who has owned Aero jackets for decades and has a couple of ALs. So like you is not partisan.
In my experience of makers they very often oversize them given half a chance. They don’t trust the customer to know his own size and are afraid of getting returns because it’s too small. Probably with good reason a lot of the time because they have been stung by people who lie to themselves...
Better than “shut your cake hole” which you never hear anymore.
“Do shut up” or “do shut up dear” is quite common still though, and seldom gives offence if the person is known to the speaker.
Not sure if you’re joking there but I aways though swinging the lead was English English. A near synonym for skiving. Both long gone tasks where the progress made was hard to quantify so easy to shirk on. Though the former could end in a disaster if the leadsman did shirk.
I would have been interested on one of them if it had been bigger. I don’t think you’ll have any trouble selling them on eBay and they should fetch a good bit more than you’re asking here. The Pegasus in particular will do well.
Tact and flattery are not the same thing. I don’t think we need to spell things out, and most of the responders here tactfully pointed out that it was a bit on the big side. He can take that or leave it. He doesn’t need to be bashed over the head with our opinions.
Before I moved here from London I might have agreed with you. But living on the western tip of the UK four miles inland from the Irish Sea we have had nothing but storms and rain since the start of October. We normally get gales at this time of the year or a bit earlier. But not one after the...
It is a bit on the big/long side and he knows the buttons are a bit low. But he isn’t very old and the responders including me were trying not to put him off up the thread. It doesn’t look daft anyway and he can get away with it as a classic fit.
You haven’t put up a full length picture but I should think it’s quite long judging by the ones you have. It depends whether you want a modern very fitted style or a more traditional one. I’ve always had a trench coat around and the one I have now I’ve had for twenty years and it fits a bit like...
Yes. The shearling will take up almost a size if it’s thick. The last B3 copy I had was a Cirrus which fitted like a 42 and measured 25” pit to pit on the outside.
For example Aero uses a size up shell when they make a shearling lining in a jacket instead of the normal lining.
As this seems to have been resurrected I’ll add to it. I have alway thought the cardigan was named after that infamous Earl of Cardigan, who when he wasn’t being a monumental snob and bore popularised it as an indoor comfortable garment. I doubt he ever set foot in Cardigan and the inhabitants...
The Harder They Fall. One of the very best boxing pics but usually overlooked because it doesn’t glamourise boxing. Does quite the opposite in fact. Some of the boxers play characters very like themselves but are twenty years too old really. Max Baer plays himself almost exactly.
It was also...
Well, at the risk of being pedantic the meaning of dreams are made of, and dreams are made on, is quite different. In the first it means than we, man, are the things that dreams are made of. It elevates us as creating the stuff of dreams. But in the correct version we are the simply the vessels...
Yes, that’s right. But Spade has spilled the beans to the cops and told them where they are staying. So though we don’t see it the cops will be on their way to them.
Incidentally the one thing which pisses me off in what is otherwise an almost perfect picture is the misquote at the end where...
