No.....Nutra was in the middle...3X,4X, 5X and of course 7XBeaver were better (IE More expensive) hats.
From 1932
These hold true for their western listings too. Their finest hats have always been the "Beaver" hats.
1937
Hats could and often did get cleaned and re-built/ modified during their lifetime to cater to the current fashion/whim of the owner, and quite frankly to get more life out of their hat (people did not just throw away things like we do now and labor was cheaper).
The most common alterations were...
A glimpse inside a Hat Renovation Work Shop (or back room of a cleaners)..........Circa 1935.
(Had a hard time capturing the image on this one, even the scanner did not work well.)
Felt is a dust magnet...........(and keeper/holder)....ESPECIALLY Hat Felt (grabs pet hair too). The original "Sham Wow" (grabs beer too, but does NOT like to give it back)!!!!;)
Yes we reflected on this before...the seal DEFINITELY does not have any of the patina of the case. And of course Truman did not wear a pre-creased hat, he creased his own. I am not aware of him EVER wearing a rancher crease.....he like d a pinch crease.
His favorite to wear was a Stetson 7xcb...
Here are two Federal Period eagles from my collection. With American Eagles there is not a real standard over the past 200 plus years, with older designs often brought out again for decorating.
I was not actually saying the hat logo WAS an American Eagle, (which is unlikely) but that it...
No......look again. VERY American, especially with the laurel.....never have seen a European Eagle with a laurel. For our eagle you are thinking of the MODERN coat of arms......Here are some images of our vintage ones.
Variations of these are ofen found on import goods especially Stafordshire...
Love that Eagle.....Very American looking........usuially when seen on foreign goods, they were made for the export American market. I do not think that is the case here however.....unless they were wanting to entice the tourist crowd.....
NICE get!!!!!
Yes....I do too.....I thought it deserved a close up.
I also like how in the "Columbia" listing they say "Correctly worn either with or without creasing in crown."
It is illustrated in open crown too.....:)
