I have to go with the Corsair as my all-time favorite. On the other end of the scale, the Gyrodyne DASH gets my vote for "Ugliest Flying Machine Ever Built". Good thing it was remote-controlled... no one would want to be seen actually flying in this thing:
Very nice, and well done with the fit! Johnson really does very good work and Alan is easy to work with. In my experience, they do have a tendency to oversize just a bit, possibly because people in the US have become accustomed to vanity sizes... and it's easier to tailor an initially oversized...
Langlitz is a small, family-run business (about 20 people, I think, in the entire operation), but they have been around a long time and have a stellar reputation. Within the motorcycle community in the US, Langlitz is generally regarded as the ultimate... and with good reason. Langlitz is the...
Some people complain that LW HH is just too stiff and difficult to break in, but I love it. Nothing else develops the deep, laser-sharp grain that's practically a LW trademark. I've found that a LW jacket will break in quite nicely with 6 months or less of regular use (maybe I should mention...
OK, I currently own at least one of all the brands you mentioned except GW (which I've read many great things about, but can't speak to from direct experience, so I won't say any more about them). My pick, from the brands I have experience with, would be Lost Worlds... no question about it. LW...
You're right... temps below 30F are uncommon here, but I'm acclimated to 110+ summers, so I have no tolerance for anything below 70 . The lined chaps are quite a bit warmer; so much so that I usually remove the lining for the afternoon commute home when temps have risen into the 60s or 70s...
I couldn't agree more. I have 2 pair of FCL chaps (lined and unlined) and have worn them every day during the winter months from November to March for a whole bunch of years (not really sure how many).
Where riding gear is concerned, I've discovered that it's usually worth the money to...
Seems like a no-brainer to me...
Definitely the LW Ryder. Considering the sale price, if you don't like it when it arrives, you should be able to resell locally and recoup your full purchase price rather quickly... you won't even have to spring for return shipping or any other cost. I mean...
OK, just to clarify the whole issue of sleeve length for riding jackets... just for anyone wondering about this...
MAYBE the fit is perfect... or MAYBE the sleeves are too short. It depends on the rider's position on the bike. Sport bikes do not require anywhere near the same arm extension as...
No, the sleeves don't look funny at all... but to anyone familiar with riding jackets, they would appear to be a little short when your arms are extended for riding. In other words, the appearance is just fine, if the fit is good on the bike. I certainly didn't mean to put you off on the...
Very Nice!
Great looking jacket, and the fit looks great... everywhere except the sleeves (which appear a little short for a riding jacket). Sometimes photos can be misleading, though... I have a Vanson where the sleeves fall no longer than that with the cuffs zipped, but are actually just the...
By my measurement, it's about 3" in the front and anywhere from 3.5" to 4.5" in the back. I'm not sure these numbers really mean anything, since I took the measurements myself and self-measurement is notoriously inaccurate. I measured several times, and the front measure was fairly consistent...
Which Ryder jacket are you considering? The Khaki or the HH? Please, please tell me its the khaki! I shudder to think of letting LW HH stitching just so it can be re-hemmed locally.
It depends to some extent on the design of the jacket and the kind of fit you want. I ordinarily wear an off-the-rack size 38R (I'm wearing a 38R Suburban in the photos), but I moved down to a 36R for the Roadhouse... a more slender design, and I wanted a trim fit. (Besides, the 36R Roadhouse...
I'll put it on my calendar to take and post more photos next Spring. One of the great things about brown leather is that it has a different appearance in different light (whereas black is always just black). Even the graininess and depth of the creases can significantly affect the color...
I've always used the biggest, widest cedar hangers available. But now that the jacket collection has completely overrun two closets and intruding into a third, I think I'll start following the Peacoat Plan, with possibly a few cedar chips thrown around pile. I love the smell of cedar, and it...
Thanks, Coffee. (Or do I just call you "Too Much"? Somehow, "Thanks, too much" just doesn't sound right lol )
A little, but not much... the little rain we've had just hasn't been accessible [huh] . But heat also does the trick, and we've had plenty of that. Good thing I'm rather heat...
I just got a new camera today, and (as it was raining outside) decided to get some shots of the grain that has developed on my 6 month old LW Strada... just to get an idea of the camera's resolution and contrast performance, you understand ;)
Excuse me if I'm hogging bandwidth, but the files...
Both were off-the-rack sizes: the Roadhouse was on sale as NOS, so no alterations possible. I ordered a size down for a trim fit, as I noted earlier. The Suburban is a less form-fitting design, and I knew from previous purchase that LW standard size would fit pretty close. Custom measurement...
