Man, you are hardcore ! I actually had to sew a ripped vintage ANJ4 I had that got ripped across the back when someone grabbed me in a bar brawl. I did it by hand, came out pretty nice given how bad it was.
Don't own any of those models but I have a brown Barnstormer in steer and a cordovan halfbelt in horse. The Barnstormer is more for colder weather with alpaca lining while the halfbelt has a tartan lining. Both are great jackets and get alot of use.
I have a cordovan half belt and the dye especially bleeds onto the armrests in my car for some reason. My brown cowhide Barnstormer doesnt have this problem. The finish of the two jackets is very different, the cordovan horsehide seems more porous than the cowhide, are they tanned differently ?
One of the best shoes I've ever purchased. I have odd shaped feet, wide with a narrow heel, and these fit me as well as some custom made boots I own. A little difficult to get in the States though. I like the ones with the screwed and glued soles.
The Burberry's are not worth the retail price, at least not the modern ones, they seem flimsy. People pay up for the lining pattern. In any decent rain they will soak through, may be fine for London rain but not New York. I've seen older Burberry's that were made of a much heavier material...
I have a bunch of Burberrys and London Fogs, I've gotten some cool vintage London Fogs on ebay cheap. One thing about these tho is that they are really only good in light rain, in a real heavy rain they all soak thru except for maybe a Grenfell. If you want serious rain protection get an...
I highly recommend the Barnstormer, I have one in cowhide, I wear it here in NJ/NYC in the winter. I ordered it one size larger to wear heavier sweaters underneath. People always comment on it when they see it and say "wow i didnt know they made stuff like that anymore".
I would suggest getting a custom made Langlitz, you cant go wrong and you know it will fit you right. The wait is less than two months now. I would also recommend an Aero, maybe a Halfbelt. One problem for me with jackets that are not custom or dont have an adjustable waist is that they are too...
Ande...I have one very similar, its a Brooks Brothers made by Locke. Very nice hat, and I also got it with BIN for like 25 bucks...the amazing thing is that it was relisted on ebay several times before I bought it, for some reason no takers but it was a steal. I've been getting some great...
The ones with the factory done cattlemans crease are hell to get back to an open crown. Older ones with better quality felt are much easier to rebash. I actually started a thread on this topic a few months back and I had mixed results. The biggest problem is getting rid of the "ghosting" of the...
